Dahanese & Greg leaving; Cole to replace
Long-time Community Members and Trion Friday Livestream Extravaganza streamers, Elizabeth “Dahanese” Tobey and Greg “OverloadUT” Laabs, have announced that they will be leaving Trion Worlds.
Dahanese has left as of today:
Today’s my last day at Trion, the best company I’ve ever worked for. On to new adventures (I’ll see y’all in game!) http://t.co/skhAR8UaVj
— elizabeth tobey (@dahanese) February 14, 2014
You can check out her farewell thread on the Rift Forums here.
OverloadUT will be staying on for another week, but will also be leaving:
Since I said it on the livestream, I might as well say it here: I am indeed moving to a new job – my last day at Trion is next Friday!
— Greg Laabs (@OverloadUT) February 15, 2014
Good luck to both Dahanese and OverloadUT in their new jobs!
They will be replaced by Cole* who is likely to be coming in starting next week.
Look forward to next week’s Friday Livestream Extravaganza where we will likely say a final farewell to OverloadUT and proper introductions to Cole.
*may not be correct spelling, but that’s all the info we’ve been given during the livestream.
Planar Squirrel Mounts
The Planar Squirrel Mounts are mounts obtained using the Planar Nut currency gained from completing Unstable Artifact Sets. The mounts are bought via the Artifact Vendors. You can find out more about Unstable Artifacts and Planar Squirrel Mounts here.
Today we were shown the Flametail, Cloudtail and Rivertail mounts in action. Each has VFX relating to their Plane between their ears and on their tail.
The following was also mentioned by Dead Simon:
- Flametail breathes fire during its stand-up idle animation.
- Cloudtail is getting an additional lightning effect between its ears which the VFX artists have just put in.
A lucky livestream viewer also received the world first Cloudtail mount!
You’ll also notice on Live that they now have tooltips with quick lore about each one:
Brief 3.0 Stuff
3.0 Souls + Existing Souls
Daglar mentioned that alpha testers currently testing the 3.0 souls are not under an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) so you can freely ask those testers about the souls.
He also confirmed that existing souls will gain new abilities when 3.0 hits (similar to existing souls when Storm Legion hit due to the level increase).
[A reminder; level cap is being raised to 65 with 3.0.]
Goboro Reef
Briefly, Dead Simon mentioned that the first zone in 3.0 is called Goboro Reef and that it will be “very different from what you’re used to” and “it’s beautiful and strange.”
[Could it possibly be linked to this concept art that is currently being used as a Rift Store promotions/feature background?]
Here’s some of the possible Goboro Reef zone-related area/porticulum names that TehFrank has datamined in the past:
- Luminous Passage – Porticulum.
- Atragarian Well – Porticulum.
- Ghar Station Mem – Porticulum.
- Temple of Ranri – Porticulum.
- Grotto – Sliver. Likely not the full name.
- Gyel – Sliver. Likely not the full name.
- Moonriven Breach – Area location name in the zone.
Conquest Chat Fix
The issue with Conquest Chat not working will be fixed with next Wednesday’s hotfix unless the servers crash prior – in which case, it’ll be patched alongside the fix for the server crash.
Wardrobe Suggestions
If you have any wardrobe suggestions, Daglar has stated that you are welcome to post them on the Rift Forums as long-time forum lurker, Dev Marigold has been responding to forum posts with wardrobe ideas, and has even confirmed one already: The Aelfwar Mystic Outfit.
Others:
- No to Master Modes. Rate of engagement was too small. Also bad feedback from raiders. (Daglar)
- Making Invasions Harder. It’ll be a lot of work but they are looking into what they can do with this. (Daglar)
- Shepherd’s Crook and Lamb Pet. Should be in [but aren’t on Rift Store. Perhaps it didn’t make it through]. (Dead Simon)
- Gilded Prophecy will be back. “It’ll make a come-back some day, but probably not in the near future” – Daglar.
- ArcheAge. Trion Worlds CEO Scott Hartsman briefly talked about ArcheAge at the beginning of the livestream after his recent trip to South Korea to visit the designers, XL Games.
Livestream Giveaways
During today’s livestream; random in-game players got:
- Love Bug Dye Packs filled with Valentine’s-related colors, including Exceptionally White Dye using a macro Greg had set up (no trading required).
Random Livestream Chat Channel followers also got:
- 3 random followers received a Trove each.
- 1 lucky player received the world first Cloudtail (air-based Planar Squirrel Mount).
Daglar also said that they will take a look at invasion and zone events to be more competing/difficult/rewarding but that’ll take some times since changes to those things are rather complicated.
