Trion had their 14th March 2014 Friday Livestream Extravaganza with Livestreamer “Cole” Marshall, Community Manager Eric “Ocho” Cleaver and Game Director Bill “Daglar” Fisher.

Cole spent the time mainly showing off a PvP Dimension that Kiwi over at Rift Dream Dimensions had created over on the PTS. Daglar answered a few questions and gave some juicy upcoming info on the 3.0 souls.

PvP Dimensions

PvP Dimensions are up on the PTS and Cole showed off Kiwi @ RDD‘s dimension that she created on the PTS.

You can check it out by searching for “PvP Realm of Regulos” or “Kiwi” in the Dimension Search tab on the PTS. Dimension window default key is “[“. Check out all her other dimensions as well. Amazing works!

ETA: As long as nothing is broken, Daglar stated PvP Dimensions will likely come out in approx. 2 weeks’ time.

3.0 Souls up on PTS

Daglar announced that the 3.0 Souls (that are arriving on Live with Patch 2.7) will be released for open alpha testing on the PTS next Monday, 17th March 2014 (subject to any issues).

The soul can be purchased for free (for testing purposes) in the Master Mode Dummy Foundry. Already on the PTS the item that will unlock the souls for you is up with the vendor – except right now it isn’t purchasable.

Trion will have official feedback threads up on the Rift Forums once the souls are released to the open for PTS testing. You can post guides, videos and release any information that you wish to on the souls – there’s no NDA.

However, note that it is still in testing and thus anything on the PTS is highly subject to change.

General Stuff

Some general additions:

PvP Stuff

Conquest

The CQ Extractor daily has been adjusted so that it works with the new Steppes of Infinity map. It now counts when you take a stone from one fort and channel it to an extractor on the other fort.

PvP Rewards

There’s no bolstering in PvP Dimensions or any rewards given due to the ability to exploit through the user-created content.

There’s also “zero plans to add rewards for 5v5s” (Daglar).

3.0 Soul Pricing

No exact details, but Daglar stated that the new souls may be slightly more expensive than the current ones but won’t be – say – $50. And Patrons will have to pay for them just like the SL souls.

Why no Patron Credit Stipend Explanation

Daglar explained that there is no Patron Credit stipend due to Revenue Recognition issues – a problem plaguing some of the other F2P games that do offer a stipend. Basically Trion has made a conscious choice not to get into credit stipends due to all the tax issues and having to account for various countries’ own tax laws on revenue recognition related to credit stipends.

Temporal Flux Promo Week

Daglar confirmed that the quests are only obtainable for Levels 50+. This may change in future Temporal Flux Promo Weeks to be more inclusive.

Also, the Empyreal Walker Mounts have a higher chance of coming out of a Temporal Flux Vault than other mounts in other lockboxes.

‘Temporal Alchemist’

This deserves its own heading. Ocho mentioned that Chris Junior and others might not like Daglar talking about Physician as ‘alchemical archers’ because it may cause mix-up. And Daglar mentioned “Temporal Alchemist” but stated that they are “not ready to talk about [it] yet”.

Intriguing given “Temporal Alchemist” doesn’t seem to relate to any of the new 2.7 souls. What could this be? A new craft profession? A new class (unlikely, that’d take too much work)? A new NPC that sells a new type of gear/enchant? Someone who can create Temporal Aligners?

We’ll just have to wait for more info to arrive in the future. Keep your eyes and ears peeled!

Hand-held Sparkler

Amory on the stream was holding what looks like a fireworks sparkler that I don’t think exists on Live right now. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

It was a ‘stick’ with glowing, changing lights on the tip with sparkles flying out of it.

Perhaps a new weapon skin?

Thanks to Amory@Deepwood for confirming with me that this is an existing item called “Rainbow Fireworks: Sparkler”. It’s an interactive item with 10sec CD (not a consumable).

This is obtained from the Fireworks-related Rift Store items that were temporarily available during New Year’s Eve and Summerfest.

Others

• “Will there be a 2.8? There’s one on my schedule.” – Daglar.
• “We do have a Unicorn coming down the pipe I know that though.” – Daglar.
• In regards to new races: They’d love to do it, but it’d be “absolutely monstrous amount of work” and they’d have to have all things align – enough people willing to pay, enough resources on hand/interest from the community/etc.
• In regards to insta-boosts to 50 or 60: Trion will think about those types of things closer to 3.0 expansion but it isn’t being considered right now at the moment.
• Those limited time exceptional dyes will make a come-back in future Fashion Weeks. No ETA on the next one.
