Another day, another reveal. Trion has confirmed that the Goboro Reef Fortress is in fact Gyel Fortress and added some concept art for it, providing a glimpse at what MikeD previously referred to as “Whole oceans of water hover above dry land”. There’s also some 3.0 weapon images to boot!
Gyel Fortress
Wow! Now this is truly amazing – none of the mini-map compilations we did or TehFrank’s datamining of the the models for this fortress showed it was fire-based. Sizzling!
Here’s quote from Trion’s twitter:
The flamescaping goes well. Lady Glasya can reign in the fiery Gyel Fortress in the manner befitting an Alaviax scion
Looks like this may be Lady Glasya‘s base in the Plane of Water – perhaps we get to fight her there?
What’s more, notice the sky – it’s another layer of water with ice – perhaps that’s why Tarken Glacier had two main maps we could find – one might be the ‘sky’ layer and the other layer would be the one that is closer to Gyel Fortress’ layer. And this may be ‘dry’ land.
Not only that, taking a look at the Izbithu Concept art – you clearly see what looks like Mount Sharax as well as a Moon (probably “Uppelluri Moon”). This supports the theory that Izbithu and Mount Sharax are located on the top layer of the Plane of Water and that Gyel Fortress and the other Tarken Glacier area is located in a lower layer. This ‘lower layer’ is likely not the lowest layer because the Goboro Reef mini-map compilation itself has an underwater region at the bottom – suggesting at least 3 layers to the Plane of Water.
It does match up with the ‘Flame Wave’ zone event that we see announced for Goboro Reef on the PTS.
Let’s review some of the models we’ve seen for Gyel Fortress – it’s clearly a Raid or Dungeon:

And this is one of the mini-map compilations we did a while back:
That looks awesome and clearly matches up with the concept art they showed off today. As we had speculated, the ‘brown’ terrain areas seem to be above-ground whilst the ‘green’ terrain areas at the bottom are likely underwater.
That whole sky-water-layer gives me the spooks though. Can’t wait to traverse Goboro Reef and discover the inside of Gyel Fortress when RIFT 3.0: Nightmare Tide hits!
Recent Livestream also showed off:
Top Floor of Gyel Fortress
The Top Floor of Gyel Fortress, shown in the recent livestream (we’ll have a summary up shortly).
2nd Floor of Gyel Fortress
The Second Floor of Gyel Fortress, shown in the recent livestream!
3.0 Weapons
A whole bunch of weapons and some shields that are related to RIFT 3.0: Nightmare Tide.
They’re all looking pretty sweet.
Notice the two-handed Axe is the same one used by the “soldiers of Tribulation” that Trion showed off earlier:
Trion had a quote for this guy too:
The soldiers of Tribulation are birthed from the nightmares of Telarans who dreamed of the horrors of the rifts.

Are these normal mobs or raid mobs perhaps?
In any case, look forward to seeing these models in 3.0!
wow that armor while having that eerie feeling to it with all the eyes, is actually pretty sweet looking. though unfortunately it never looks that good in game.
