How to Link Your Game Folder
Below I’ll go over how to link your existing game folder for the GLYPH Launcher so you don’t have to re-download everything.
When you launch Glyph, you’ll notice that it asks you to ‘install’ your RIFT game.
(Note: This was for my PTS folder; your folder location will likely be different, especially using the LIVE install)
- Browse for the folder where you have your game installed then press OK.
- It won’t actually install the game, it will simply launch the game.
This only needs to be done once; afterwards the large button will always say “Play” unless there’s a new patch to download. And….you’re done!
Note: Make sure that the ‘Install Folder’ is actually the folder where your Rift game is on otherwise Glyph might re-download the entire game.
Where is my Game Folder?
Your RIFT game folder should normally be in one of the following:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\RIFT Game
- C:\Program Files\RIFT Game
It will be elsewhere if you manually installed it in a different area.
Note: It ‘may’ reset your graphic and audio settings, but addons should be unaffected. (i.e. Glyph reset my graphics and audio settings for my PTS install, but didn’t affect by Live install).
Switching between Regions
Switching between North America, Europe and PTS is simple.
Simply click on the top-right hand drop-down menu and you can easily switch between regions: North America, Europe and the PTS.
Error #2025 Solution
You usually get this error every now and then in your Glyph launcher or during login.
One possible solution is to add Glyph as an exception to your firewall or anti-virus programs.
Here’s a possible solution from the Trion Support website:
Add Glyph as an Exception to Firewall/Anti-Virus
Often firewall or anti-virus software can be the cause of a patching issue. Follow the steps below to add Glyph to your Windows Firewall.
- Open your Control Panel.
- Click ‘System and Security.’ (Windows XP Users select Windows Firewall at this point.)
- Click ‘Windows Firewall.’
- Click ‘Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall.’
- Click the ‘Change Settings’ button at the top.
- Click ‘Allow another program…’.
- Click ‘Browse.’
- Navigate to where you installed the game (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Glyph).
- Select the application file named ‘GlyphClient’ and click ‘Open.’
- Find the newly added ArcheAge file in the list, select it, and click ‘Add’ at the bottom.
- Repeat steps 6-10 for the file ‘GlyphDownloader’.
At this point, try patching again. If it does not work, you can temporarily disable your firewall and anti-virus. If this works, you can patch completely and then turn your firewall and anti-virus back on.

Another possible solution is to delete the Glyph AppData folder:
Delete the Glyph AppData folder
The Glyph AppData folder contains several files that can get in a stuck state and cause the client to no longer authorize your login. Follow the steps below to delete this folder.
- Navigate to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local.
- Delete the entire Glyph folder.
- Attempt to re-run Glyph.

If all else fails, you can temporarily remove Glyph using the instructions at the bottom of this article under the heading “Removing Glyph (temporarily)”.
Another possible solution is to Disable Auto-login:
Try closing your Glyph Launcher completely and then re-open it and make sure it isn’t on auto-login. I’ve found (personally) that I get a ton of #2025 errors if I try to login via the Glyph Launcher after a failed auto-login.
However, as soon as I close the launcher and re-open it to a non-auto-login ‘session’, I can open up the Glyph Launcher and begin playing RIFT without any issues.
Go to Settings -> Advanced and untick “Remember My Login” and choose from the drop-down “After Game Launch: Exit Glyph”. This could potentially solve your #2025 Error issues (it did for me)!
Still having issues? Getting Error #2016?
This might be on Trion’s end. Trion has announced that their own firewall may be blocking some players, causing the Glyph Error #2025 and Glyph Error #2016 issues. If the above solutions don’t work out for you, try contacting Trion Support via support@trionworlds.com and mention you are having #2025 Error issues. Make sure to either use the same e-mail address that is linked to your game account or state what your in-game account’s e-mail address is when sending the e-mail to Trion Support.
Error #3191 Solution
If you are getting an Error #3191 when you hit the “Play” button it is likely because either your Glyph launcher or RIFT game folder are not in the same hard drive as your operating system. Here’s a solution:
Close the Glyph client and run it again as administrator. To do this:
- Go to your Glyph folder. (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Glyph or C:\Program Files\Glyph)
- Find the file named “GlyphClient” and right-click it.
- Choose “Properties” in the drop-down.
- Go to the “Compatability” tab in the new window and check “Run this program as an administrator” at the bottom of the window.
- Click “Apply” button in bottom-right corner of the window and then “OK”.
The Error #3191 issues should be dealt with.
By-Passing Authenticator Issue
Currently, Glyph’s launcher will by-pass the authenticator after you use the Authenticator on your computer the first time round and will attempt to automatically connect to your account via the details you have entered previously.
Here’s a quote from customer service:
Unfortunately with the way the patcher is designed, you’ll have to make sure to log out from your machine any time you know someone might be able to access your computer. Anyone else will not be able to access your account from anywhere without having your account credentials. They would still need the authenticator number as well if they did somehow manage to get a hold of your credentials. [r]
Credit: Thanks to Gizmovision for the information!
If you are on a shared computer or one where other people can access it, make sure to Logout using the Logout button at the top of the Glyph Launcher.
[Update: 07.02.14 7:11PM PDT] – An option will be added so that the launcher does not remember Authenticator numbers. [Source: CM Morgana]
Removing Glyph (temporarily)
David Bogan in the comments section has informed us that there is a way to remove the Glyph launcher (for now) so you can use the old RIFT launcher. Note that if Trion has a fix for this, it may not be a lasting solution. For now though, it will certainly help those who have major issues with existing Glyph bugs.
There’s a much better fix. Uninstall Glyph.
Make sure both Rift and Glyph are not running. Go through the control panel > add/remove programs and uninstall glyph.
Go into your C:\ProgramData folder and delete the glyph folder.
Go into your C:\User\username\AppData folder and delete any glyph folders you find in both the Local and Roaming folders.
Go into your ..\Rift folder and delete any Glyph folder you find there.
Remove any shortcuts to Rift you have on the desktop or start menu. (deleting it from the games explorer may take “Games Explorer Manager” that is not part of windows)
Create a new Rift shortcut that leads to ..\Rift\RiftPatchLive.exe and use it to start the game.
For now, this works, how long it will take them to figure out this huge blunder is anyone guess.

Great info there David! It would be useful for those having major issues with Glyph, although for anyone who simply ‘doesn’t like’ the new launcher, it would probably be too much bother. I have a feeling you may end up having to perform that with every patch.
Update: I’m still using the old Rift launcher, patches have not affected it.
Nice, it’s good to hear the old launcher still works! That’s definitely an option players having difficulty with Glyph could look at.
wont work anymore… wont work without glyph
FANTASTIC INFORMATION. Thank you so much. Fixed my issue with Glyph 🙂 God help me if they fix that loop hole as I will not be able to play Rift 😦
Thanks, very helpful!
Sadly, not much help to me. My problem is, I launch Glyph, then it pops up briefly and vanishes almost immediately from screen. Tried various fixes from the forums, nothing works. Tried relaxing and turning off my virus software. Tried msconfig and startup services. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Glyph. Nothing works. Really hoping they patch this problem. Kinda worried they haven’t made a big announcement, since I’ve seen a few others have the same problem out there.
Sorry to hear that. You could try sending aahz a direct message and see if he can help you out. His e-mail is cswiedler@trionworld.com
Has anyone found a fix for this issue i have done the same thing, followed all the steps and still no go. I click my desk top icon get the windows default “i am thinking” emblem then nothing happens. Very frustrating and i have to say i am not a fan of the Glyph system atm
If there are still issues with your Glyph launcher after going through the Trion Support Site suggestions, another option would be to contact Lead Engineer for Glyph, “Aahz” at cswiedler@trionworld.com. Hope it works out for you!
Check your settings and make sure that you do not have “Exit Glyph After Launch” clicked. Because that would close out your Glyph without launching Rift if rift is slower than Glyph at the time.
erm Guys i have a problem i just registerd my self but the emails is not coming what should i do answer asap please
Check your spam folder to see if it ended up there.
