The PTS update on 23rd July did not add much to the game other than fixes, class adjustments mentioned previously and Auction House fixes. However, there’s a few new items datamined by TehFrank.
Below you can find the datamined files for this update:
Summary:
- 3.0 Skins – Possible Onir; Skelf; Barnacle House; Texture; Flag
- 3.0 Icons
- Nightmare Coast Mini-Map + Loading Screen
- Interesting 3.0 Datafiles
- More 3.0 Audio Files
3.0 Skins
A few skins were made available with the recent PTS update with a focus on RIFT 3.0: Nightmare Tide:
Possible Onir Skin
Is this potentially one of the Onir people? And are they blue-skinned dwarf-giants? It’s the first time we’ve seen a blue-skinned version. The rest have been white – almost porcelain-skinned. This could also be the skin for the Draumheim King given the difference between it and other skins datamined before.
Possible Skelf Skin
Possible Skelf Skin. I say possible because it doesn’t seem humanoid and has tentacles. It could just be a mob in Nightmare Tide.
Barnacle House Skin
Skin for one of the Barnacle Homes shown in a prior datamine. Top-right could likely be the door.
3.0 Texture Skin
3.0 texture skin. Has similarities to destroyed building pillars in the Storm Legion zones although those had ‘ear-fins’. Building decoration – could also be used for a door or window like the ones in Tempest Bay.
Possible 3.0 Flag
Potentially half a flag or cape design. Trion probably only needed to show half since the other half can be mirrored.
3.0 Icons
No clue what these are supposed to be other than the green color and eyes tend to be a common theme in Nightmare Tide. Could these potentially be minion icons due to the ‘progression’ from ‘small egg’-to-‘numerous-mouths-and-an-eye’? It could also be new Essence icons for Nightmare Tide given the middle tear-drop ones are the Water-based Essence icons re-colored.
Could also be Reaver’s soul-revamped DPS ability icons.
Then again the non-tear ones could also be Nightmare Rift lures with each ‘growth’ representing a higher tier.
Nightmare Coast Images
Nightmare Coast is the upcoming RIFT 2.8: Madness Wakes dungeon that acts as one of the starter dungeons for 3.0 (like how Exodus of the Storm Queen – introduced in 1.11 – was the ‘prelude’ dungeon for 2.0). It is currently up on the PTS for testing.
Nightmare Coast Mini-Map
The Mini-map for Nightmare Coast. It’s an interesting dungeon that you can check out on the PTS. Entrance is located south of Fortune’s Shore near where the instance begins at the bottom-left of the mini-map.
Nightmare Coast Loading Screen
Nightmare Coast loading screen background. The Infinity Gate in Shimmersand will potentially become our entrance to Goboro Reef.
Interesting 3.0 Datafiles
A few of the datafiles not already mentioned above had some interesting filenames. Specifically, the ‘epic’ versions of the Griffon and Roc pets, Monty and Rodney as well as further information about those ‘fairy wings’.
Monty and Rodney (Epic)
Vladd showed off the Monty and Rodney models that are coming for Rangers and Beastmasters earlier in the week here. TehFrank datamined the following filenames:
- griffon_pet_ranger_epic.ma
- roc_pet_beastmaster_epic.ma
Given the previous datamines showed the file without the “_epic” suffix it seems that the armored combat pets shown off by Vladd are the Epic versions and unarmored versions will likely be available to differentiate the Lesser and Greater versions of the pets.
Fairy Wings – Are They Real?
We’ve seen the following skeleton before:
It was just assumed – originally – to be referring to either Cleric’s combat pet skins or just Fairy characters in general such as Hylas or Twyl.
However, TehFrank has datamined the following action script files:
human_male_wing_fairy\rig\asset\human_male_wing_fairy.nif
anim\unarmed\jump\asset\human_female_wing_fairy_unarmed_jump_enter.kf
anim\unarmed\idle\asset\bahmi_male_wing_fairy_unarmed_idle.kf
anim\unarmed\idle\asset\bahmi_female_wing_fairy_unarmed_idle.kf
anim\unarmed\jump\asset\bahmi_male_wing_fairy_unarmed_jump_exit.kf
anim\unarmed\jump\asset\bahmi_female_wing_fairy_unarmed_jump_enter.kf
anim\unarmed\run\asset\bahmi_female_wing_fairy_unarmed_run_forward.kf
anim\unarmed\idle\asset\dwarf_female_wing_fairy_unarmed_idle.kf
anim\unarmed\run\asset\dwarf_female_wing_fairy_unarmed_run_forward.kf
anim\unarmed\jump\asset\dwarf_male_wing_fairy_unarmed_jump_enter.kf
anim\unarmed\jump\asset\elf_female_wing_fairy_unarmed_jump_cycle.kf
anim\unarmed\jump\asset\elf_male_wing_fairy_unarmed_jump_exit.kf
If it was just ‘human’ you could rub it off as Trion referring to Hylas and Twyl and just default naming them ‘human’ as opposed to, say, ‘creature’/’beast’. But these files clearly include all the playable races (with humans = Mathosian/Eth; elf = High Elf/Kelari).
Looks like we’ll be seeing Fairy Wings on players in the future.
It is of course still speculation that these might be cosmetic items or even one of the new equipment slots coming in 3.0. These could end up just being temporary wings used for a certain quest or activity – perhaps in a nightmare/dream-based instance where some NPC dreams that everyone has turned into fairies.
More 3.0 Audio Files
Some more 3.0 Audio Files have been datamined by TehFrank with the latest update. Files include a new Siren Song as well as background music.
You can check them out here. Warning, contains possible spoilers!
Some more 3.0-related items shown. The Fairy Wings revelation is quite intriguing and it will be interesting to see how players react to its addition. Also, look forward to some blue dwarf-giants (size is pure speculation)!

Those 3.0 icons could also potentially be planar consumables for Nightmare Rifts – they have stated that Nightmare Rifts will pop up in 1-60 content as well as expansion content.
