Trion has announced the RIFT 3.0: Nightmare Tide Digital Collector’s Editions on their website! You can check them out when you log into the riftgame.com website and go to Store.
First up, the Nightmare Tide expansion is free. These digital collector’s editions however adds some exclusives that won’t affect your combat ability as well as stuff you can earn in-game by playing the game.
Packs are:
- Typhoon Edition for $24.99 [Get 20,000 Loyalty] [r]
- Infusion Edition for $49.99 [Get 50,000 Loyalty]
- Ultimate Nightmare Edition for $149.99 [Get 150,000 Loyalty]
A few other things to note:
- Packs are available for direct purchase, not Credits. [r] If you are from EU, you will get your items (if you purchase now) once your hotfix comes. [r]
- The following items are available prior to 3.0: Accelerators, Thresher Mount, Abyssal Satchel and Abyssal Crab Combat Pet Skin.
- If you have any questions, read on or check out CM Ocho’s ‘Nightmare Tide Collector’s Edition FAQ‘.
- No Dream Soul Pack included in any of the Digital Editions.
Note: Everything is account-wide unless stated otherwise.
The Typhoon Edition
The Typhoon Edition costs $24.99 and comes with:
- 2 New Equipment Slots*
- Exclusive Nightmare Tide Bag Slot*
- Manugo League Membership
- Planewalker: Water
- Title: the Typhoon
- 20,000 Loyalty [r]
*Benefits don’t stack if you already bought a Nightmare Tide Digital Edition (i.e., just a disclaimer so you don’t buy 10x copies thinking it’ll get you 20x equipment slots).
2 New Equipment Slots

New Earrings UI
These are 2 earring slots. Purchasing a digital edition gives account-wide unlock of the two earring slots.
- Earrings will not be visible so they act like rings. Sorry fashionistas!
In-Game Option: You can also unlock each earring slot per character in-game using currency similar to Infinity Stones (so not IS, but likely the new Level 61+ version of it). [r] These are not purchasable with Credits. [r]
Exclusive Nightmare Tide Bag Slot

Exclusive Bag Slot Unlock
This adds a new bag slot (thus bringing max to 8, up from current 7). Exclusive? Yes, this will not be purchasable in-game. Unlocked for all chars. Gingers has reworked the bag bar UI to allow for this (visible on PTS). [r]
[Here’s something to consider. PvP and PvE gear are merging so you’ll need less space for gear in your bags. Also, Savant crafting/gathering only has one type of node per craft (6 for fish), so you’ll only need around half the space you currently use for crafting/gathering.
That said, an extra inventory slot will let you send all your fluff/interactive items back on your main (instead of hiding it on alts or bank).]
Manugo League Membership
Allows you to earn a variety of equipment and crafting recipes as you gain ranks in this new notoriety. [r]
In-Game Option: The main difference between ‘membership’ (buying a Digital Edition) and ‘non-membership’ (not buying a Digital Edition) is that members earn reputation at a faster rate. [r]
Planewalker: Water
Allows you to equip certain planar gear from the Plane of Water.
- “Roughly 15-20% of the gear in NT will require” this attunement.
- Spread through all gear levels.
- No gear type is exclusive to players with Planewalker: Water attunement.
- Account-wide unlock.
In-Game Option: You can also gain this Planewalker: Water attunement in-game via ‘Abyssal Crusader’s Marks’ earned by completing Expert Level 65 dungeons. This will unlock per char. [r]
Title: the Typhoon
Grants the suffix title “the Typhoon”.

Shimmering Nightmare Orb
An Infinite-use Dream Orb. Daglar stated the stats won’t be better than existing or future dream orbs. [r]

Cobalt Thresher Mount

RIFT Cobalt Thresher Mount. Thanks to Phexlar@Laethys for modelling!
The Cobalt Thresher Mount is an amphibious (land+water) mount. There’s also an achievement that was briefly available on the PTS for non-testers that required you to have a Thresher mount.

Cobalt Thresher Tooltip. Notice the “Amphibious” – it can ride on Land and in Water.
The Cobalt Thresher mount is ‘exclusive’ to the Ultimate Nightmare Digital Edition. However, the ‘Thresher’ mount model is not exclusive. There will be other variants obtainable in the future – no details on how. [r]

The Abyssal Satchel is a 36-slot bag. Available as soon as you purchase the pack (might need to log out and log back in). Unique Equip.

Each Digital Edition builds on the previous.
Additional information and any screenshots of the various items will be added in as they become available.
Please check out CM Ocho’s ‘Nightmare Tide Collector’s Edition FAQ‘ and respond in that thread for any additional information you may require.
The Digital Editions are available for purchase on the Trion website and at Riftgame.com (Trion’s RIFT website; they both redirect to the same place once you log in).
going for the infusion edition. The ultimate is so expensive…. 😦
Too sad i wont get it soon the Thresher mount,at least its confirmed by Daglat that there gonna be other Thresher mounts in game sometime, only the cobalt thresher is exclusive
Yea, I see a few people on the mount already. 😛 Phexlar@Laethys modeled the mount so we’ve got an in-game screen of it (updated in the article just then).
I’m also seeing a lot of shard first for Tier 2 Raid gear (thanks to the removal of the raid-dropped upgrade component). Now you only need ESM for it.
Anyone find a picture of the Abyssal Crab combat pet skin? I’m intrigued….
And also, do you know if the Accelerators are per toon or per account?
Should be available to every character like all the other items. But they are Bind on Pickup so you can’t trade them to your other chars.
I hope they add in a way to buy Planewalker: Water for our alts so we only have to level up 60-65 without that gear once. I’d much prefer they limited the gear to being 65 only, or gave a lower level way to unlock it – I sincerely hope they reconsider, as I think seeing all those unequippable items will be a big let down. The rest is cool though, esp the creepy portrait and the unlimited dye. I hope there’s a way to get the Shimmering Nightmare Orb in game as well though – sooo much plat to be saved.
I would imagine that months down the line they might make it BoA like they eventually did with Notoriety gear, runes and essences. Trion likes to nerf content and buff players over time – so those pushing the content won’t finish too fast but those catching up don’t take too long either.
As for the Shimmering Nightmare Orb – it has a green border and the current speculation is that it won’t have the best stats. It’s probably something to be used for a quick boost when 3.0 hits and so you can put dream orbs on all your leveling gear as you quickly replace them. However, for the best Dream Orb stats, you’ll probably want the one-use versions (perhaps once you get your first NT raid gear). More casual players – however – would probably still greatly benefit from the Shimmering Nightmare Orb.
Side-by-side comparison of the packs can be found at http://screencloud.net/v/iVNq (made by Cummseng@Laethys)
Awesome! I’ve added it in to the post. Thanks to both of you for the info! 😀
The “Void Source Accelerator” description states: “Used to upgrade goods purchased from World Gear Merchant”. Yet is is used to upgrade T2 raid relic gear??
Does that mean that we will be able to buy T2 raid relic gear from the World Gear Merchant when Rift 3.0 hits?
The description might just be meant for 3.0 but they decided to release it early. They might not have added it into the tooltip so as to not confuse players when they see this item for upgradeable items in 3.0. It could be possible that the World Gear merchant ends up selling Level 65 world gear that can upgrade to gear with Tier 3-like stats.
They did state that the best gear in Storm Legion (Tier 3 Relics) would take players to “Level 65 and a bit beyond” so it isn’t too farfetched to think that upgraded Level 65 World Gear would be around what Level 60 Tier 3 gear is like.
is it me or does the infusion edition seem like the best deal?
It’s looking that way. The Ultimate Nightmare Edition mainly adds some fluff and stuff that players might not be interested in.
Depends. Is a title, a bag, a shark mount, a dimension, a crab and cosmeticals worth extra 80€ to you?
The shark is awesome, yes, but a similar mount can be obtained through other means.
Can these be bought with credits?
Unfortunately no; only direct purchase for the Digital Editions.
If I buy the Infusion Edition can I upgrade later for a reduced price?
There’s currently no discounts for owning a lower-tier pack when purchasing higher-tier packs. You can still buy multiple packs and apply them to your account but there are no discounts for doing so.
