Trion Worlds has added an Ice Bucket item in the RIFT Store for 150 Credits (135 for Patrons). The item can be accessed via the top-right corner ‘Featured’ box on the RIFT Store main page.

RIFT Ice Bucket

There’s been a recent viral charity campaign called “The Ice Bucket Challenge” to help promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (“ALS”). You may have seen famous actors, philanthropists and even your local news reporter partaking in this charity promotion.

Now you can help donate to ALS research whilst getting something nifty in RIFT. The ‘Ice Bucket’ item is a re-usable fluff item that spawns a bucket above your head. A few seconds later water pours from it onto your character. There’s a 10sec cool-down on the item.

Note the following disclaimer:

All sales between 10th Sept 2014 at 12am PDT until 1st Oct 2014 at 11:59PM PDT will be counted if you are within the United States (excluding AL, CA, IL, MA, MI, and RI). Not tax deductible. For everyone else, you can always check out the ALS Association (US) site to donate directly here.

And here’s RIFT’s Executive Producer Bill “Daglar” Fisher taking the Ice Bucket Challenge:

Nice to see the gaming community get behind good causes. WoW’s done this for other groups too. let’s keep it up. Nice CoolDown timer too. No 4 hours or 2 day stuff!
