As always, everything below is subject to change prior to hitting Live and some things included below may never make it to Live release.

New Armor Models

There’s two new armor models that have popped up on the RIFT Store -> Equipment -> Armor section when you filter to Level 65. These are the Abyssal Crusader’s dungeon set and the Frost Keeper’s raid set. Currently the Void Seekers’ armor sets use old Lvl 50 Tier 1/Lvl 60 Tier 3 armor sets. This may be placeholder.

Note: PvP and PvE gear has merged in 3.0 so you use the same gear.

The Visuals

RiftGrate Cleric 3.0 Armor Sets Visual

Cleric 3.0 Armor Sets Visual

RiftGrate Warrior 3.0 Armor Sets Visual

Warrior 3.0 Armor Sets Visual

RiftGrate Rogue 3.0 Armor Sets Visual

Rogue 3.0 Armor Sets Visual

RiftGrate Mage 3.0 Armor Sets Visual

Mage 3.0 Armor Sets Visual

Rogues and Mages’ Abyssal Crusader’s sets are still placeholder so only Frost Keeper’s sets are shown above.

Personally not too excited about the Abyssal Crusader’s models, but the Frost Keeper’s Mage Chest/Gloves, Warrior Shoulders/Boots and Cleric Helm would make a nice wardrobe set!

The skull at the back of the Mage’s helm seems rather interesting though and hopefully there’s a few more of those ‘backwards’ helms coming out there.

Gear Comparison

Gear Comparison 2.0 to 3.0

Gear Comparison SL to NT.

Let’s compare the gear. There’s a vast difference between Level 60 Tier 3 Relics and Level 65 Tier 1 Epics. There’s also a HIT difference straight off the bat with Void Seeker/Abyssal Crusader’s gear.

Just like with Storm Legion, the Open World and Dungeon gear are comparable – you’ll just need to choose the stat distribution you are interested in (for Cleric DPS gloves, that’s SP vs CP).

Tier 3 Level 60 Relics will get you to Level 65 without really having to replace any gear, but you’ll be missing a lot of stats if you choose not to replace that gear asap.

HIT in Nightmare Tide

Nightmare Tide HIT

Nightmare Tide HIT

The PTS has updated HIT requirements. It is now:

  • NT Expert Dungeon: 800 HIT
  • NT Raid – Tier 1: 1,000 HIT

In comparison, Level 60 Tier 3 gear gives 720 HIT. So you will need to find 80 HIT somewhere. That said, Capes in 3.0 contain HIT. ‘Fine’ Capes from Outfitters (445) gives +53 HIT and higher-grade ‘Thalasite’ capes give +65 HIT.

Savant Crafting gives +53 HIT (Accessories/Weapons) and +63 HIT (Armor). Thus for a Full Level 60 Tier 3-geared player, you’ll need to get at least one Void Seeker HIT piece and a +53 HIT Cape to meet the minimum requirements for NT Expert Dungeons. (Note: Some of the HIT ratings for crafted gear might be placeholder or subject to change).

  • Quickest would be to get the Void Seeker +125 HIT gloves. They cost 6,500 Void Stones which is pretty easy to get when leveling and a bit of Nightmare Tide farming.

Cost

  • Void Seeker’s Set costs Void Stones gained from open world activities such as zone events, open world quests and Nightmare Rifts.
  • Abyssal Crusader’s Set costs Abyssal Crusader’s Marks gained from Level 65 Expert Dungeons.
  • Frost Keeper’s Set costs Fragments of Horror gained from Level 65 Raids.

Note: It is unknown at this point what type of currency PvP Quests will provide.

Upgrade Paths

Each set of gear has at least one upgrade path.

Void Seeker’s Upgrade

Minions System Updated

Minions System Tutorial

The Minions System was further updated with various bug fixes as well as new visual and sound effects. There’s now also tooltips and help text. The ‘Aventurine’ currency is also up.

As per Senior UI Artist Gingers’ post:

Today’s UI updates to PTS:

  • Added stars & stars splash: this visually shows you how well your minion did on that adventure. The sounds are not yet final
  • Added a “Minion Leveled Up” splash. The sounds are not yet final.
  • Added Aventurine & Credits totals to the bottom of the UI. You can’t yet spend the Aventurine.
  • The “?” tutorial button now works though the text is not yet final.
  • Minion levels now show up on again on the small minion cards.
  • The stationary death header art no longer moves.
  • Increased the size of the minion name on the full size cards.

If there are any bugs still occurring please let us know.

Aventurine Minions Currency

Aventurine Currency

Aventurine Currency

The ‘Aventurine’ currency is now visible at the bottom of the Minions UI. You gain this currency by completing Minion Adventures (seems to be 1 Aventurine per adventure) and ‘consuming special items’ (unknown what those are). You use Aventurine as an alternate to Credits to Hurry adventures and purchase promotional (10hr) adventures.

New Minions Animations

Minions VFX

Minions VFX

Two new Minions animations have popped up.

  • Whenever your minions complete adventures, a large visual now pops up with 6 stars that tells you how well your minion performed. 6 stars = perfect score/good loot.
  • Whenever your minion levels up after completing an adventure, you also get a “Minion Leveled Up” screen message pop up with the name of your minion and its new level.

Nightmare Rift Instance Lures Tooltip

New Nightmare I Instance Lure Tooltip

The instance versions of Nightmare Rift lures have had a tooltip update to include the fact that after Stage 80, every 40 stages will grant a loot chest with an essence inside. Since it is a loot ‘chest’, it’s likely to be rolled on in your group/raid.

This is present for all ranks of Nightmare Rift Instance Lures.

New Achievements

Datamining Zone Achievements

Datamining Zone Achievements

A whole bunch of new achievements – 565 new points:

  • Zones -> RIFT: Nightmare Tide. 145 to 230.
  • Zones -> RIFT: Nightmare Tide -> Goboro Reef. 280 to 320.
  • Zones -> RIFT: Nightmare Tide -> Draumheim. 185 to 275.
  • Zones -> RIFT: Nightmare Tide -> Tarken Glacier. 210 to 275.
  • Chronicles split into its own category.
  • Dungeons -> RIFT: Nightmare Tide -> Nightmare Coast. 140 to 215.
  • Character. 670 to 700. Probably higher companions, mounts and artifact set achieves.
  • Character -> Advancement. 470 to 560. Notoriety achieves. All are Revered.
  • Character -> Crafting. 245 to 335. Savant.

Minion Card Rewards

A couple of achievements have been added with Minions Cards as rewards:

Minion Card Achievement Rewards

Minion Card Achievement Rewards

More might appear with future updates as a lot of the new Nightmare Tide-related achievement sub-categories do not have rewards yet.

Nightmare Tide Notoriety Achievements

Nightmare Tide Notoriety Achievements

Nightmare Tide Notoriety Achievements

A few notoriety achievements have popped up for Nightmare Tide. As TehFrank datamined months ago, these are: Manugo League, Atragarians, Pelagic Order, Cerulean Rhenke, Ghar and Onir. All of these are ‘Revered’ as max notoriety.

Nightmare Tide Savant Achievements

Nightmare Tide Savant Achievements

Nightmare Tide Savant Achievements

Basic updates to certain achievements have also been added, including new Savant achievements for becoming fully skilled in one gathering and one crafting ability.

250 Companions

RIFT Animal Rescue Achievement

RIFT Animal Rescue Achievement

Most of the Character achievements with an item count (mounts/companions/artifact sets) have probably been updated. For Companions, the new max is 250 companions called ‘Animal Rescue’ with title: “Crazy Cat Lady”.

Decent-sized update with some very interesting additions, especially the armor sets. It seems even Tier 3 Relic’d-out players will still need one or two gear pieces to meet the HIT requirement for Level 65 Experts; and a bit more if they want enough stats for the new content.

    Personaly I really like the new mage helmet, much more than the SL T2 one and the BoB one (which is just the same that an old vanilla helmet).
    The fact that the mage and cleric Frost Keeper’s chests are exactly the same is not cool, though.
