+100 Hit on Crafted Gear + Nightmare Seals

General Water Rift Feature Image

Nightmare Tide Crafted Gear

All Nightmare Tide Crafted Gear now has +100 Hit (for pieces that give Hit) by default (i.e. without having to upgrade). This will make it even easier to get 800 Hit for Nightmare Tide Experts.

The gear is still called the same – ‘Thalasite’ and ‘Thalcrystal’. You can get Hit pieces from Weaponsmiths, Armorsmiths (Cleric/Warrior), Outfitter (Rogue/Mage) and Artificers.

Nightmare Seals

Also, Nightmare Seals are now available. According to the Nightmare Seal achievements, they seem to be upgradeable up to 40-50 times. Each time you get 1 or 2 stat increases.

Nightmare Seals have replaced the old Nightmare Tide crafted seals. If you check your craft professions, you should see the new Nightmare Seals. If you used to have an old seal, it can still be upgraded to the next tier of Nightmare Seal by alt+left-clicking on your seal.

  • Upgrades cost 7 Illusory Motes and 1 Dust of the Void.
  • Illusory Motes are gained as chance drop from Nightmare Rift caches dropped every 10 stages in Nightmare Rifts. They are also given when you complete Nightmare Master achievements.
  • Dust of the Void is gained from Nightmare Tide rift creatures, rifts, dungeon mobs as well as for 10 Void Stones from RIFT Store -> Crafting.

Note: You can upgrade them whilst they are still equipped and the new upgraded seal will re-appear in your Seal gear slot shortly afterwards.

Note2: Runes do not carry over.

Don’t Upgrade

Given how little you get from upgrading a Nightmare Seal to the next tier (+1/2 stat), you should probably hold off on upgrading them and instead save your Illusory Motes for upgrading Essences from Ghar Notoriety reputation found under the RIFT Store -> Equipment -> Runes -> Level 65 filter.

Happy about the seals, gives something to work on, but the hit change on crafted gear is dissapointing, in my opinion. Having some pieces with +100 use just dust, but others use amenders, provided a good balance I thought. Now there’s little reason for most people to do that first upgrade with the blue amender, unless you are desperate for some stats, but since most people just use crafted gear as a jumping point into content with better drops, I don’t expect many to do that.

I agree, although it depends on whether players reach the main stat requirement for Experts with just the base, default crafted gear. Some players might have less than optimal essences – for instance – and need a bit more main stat in order to unlock, say, heal queuing for experts (which seems to have a higher main stat requirement than dps).

as mentioned above, DO NOT upgrade these. You only get +1 or +2 per upgrade, and they get more expensive as you go. Save the mats for the essences.
