Trion had their 9th January 2015 Friday Livestream with Livestreamer “Cole” Marshall, Lead Content Designer Julia “Darkmoon” Flemming and Senior UI Artist Amber “Gingers” Alexander.
As always, everything can be subject to change prior to the content hitting Live.
Dimension Additions
A few additions for dimensioneers are coming to RIFT:
Free Camera Mode

Free Camera Mode
A new button has been added to edit mode called “Free Camera” where you can freely fly around your dimension just like Cole does when he’s making RIFT’s promo videos and patch trailers.
Note that your character will remain in the location that you left it when you go into Free Camera mode. So your character isn’t physically flying around.
Use it to help you check out your creations at all angles, correct some misplaced items, create videos showcasing your dimensions and perhaps even immortalize your latest roleplaying event.
Permissions Upgrade

Dimension Permissions Special and Ban List
Permissions have been given an upgrade with a new ‘Special’ column where you can add specific players to a list so that they have their own, separate permissions. It’s kind of like a separate Friends list for Dimensions.
There’s also a Ban List so you can specifically ban players from a specific dimension. Each list is specific to the particular dimension you’ve selected and these options are available for Guild Dimensions as well.
This is still a work in progress and might not make it in for Patch 3.1.
Plus Me!

Prominent Plus 1
The visitor UI has been changed so that the “+1” button is at the center of the UI bar, making it far more prominent and (hopefully) translating to more upvotes for your dimension.
Minion System Additions
A few additions to the Minion System were revealed, some of which have been shown before in past PTS Update summaries.
Shuffle Feature

Minion Shuffle Feature
You can shuffle adventure decks with a new ‘Shuffle’ button. This puts the top adventure card on cooldown and puts the next card to the top of the deck.
- Shuffling costs Aventurine or Credits.
- Adventurine cost increases with each subsequent shuffle. However, shuffle prices reset each day at midnight GMT (for both NA and EU).
Recharge Stamina

Minion Stamina Recharge
A new feature is the ability to recharge stamina. When you click on the Stamina button to the left of your Aventurine total, all minions that are not at full stamina will have a pulsing “+” sign to indicate that you can recharge them.
Clicking on the Minion will then give you the option to purchase a recharge for them with Credits.
As these are on the PTS, all prices are subject to change.
Linking Minions

Minion Linking and Preview
You will be able to link minions via the Adventures or Minions tabs so that they appear in chat. Simply shift+click on the minion you want to link whilst you have chat open (via ‘Enter’ key).
Previews of minions will now also show the minion card in full.
Maxed Minions Frame

Max Minion Frame
A new UI frame for maxed minions is coming to Live shards. As you can see from the image above, there’s a spiral-style ring around the Level 25 minion instead of the blue exp ring.
Stamina Tooltip

Stamina Tooltip
When hovering over the stamina icon in the top-right corner of your minion, a new tooltip will pop up that will tell you exactly when your minion will recharge its next point of stamina.
This should help players in deciding whether to wait a bit before taking out a Minion that is currently on 6 stamina, recharging to 7 for an 8hr mission or whether to choose a different, lower-attribute minion if you don’t have the time to wait for recharge.
Linked Adventures

Linked Minion Adventures
The ‘Link’ icon that you see at the top of the Adventure card above will be present for some future adventures to indicate that the adventure is part of a series of adventures. (i.e. a ‘link’ in a chain).
Examples of adventures that will show this ‘Link’ icon include adventures similar to the Fae Yule 2014 Minion Pack adventures.
Crafting Favorites

Crafting Favorites Info
A new ‘Favorites’ window is available for the Crafting UI on the PTS. Simply tick on the ‘Favorite’ check box underneath any recipe and it will be added to a new ‘Favorites’ tab under the professions’ drop-down menu.
- You can add recipes from any profession to your Favorites.
- Clicking on a particular recipe in your Favorites window will display your level in that profession; i.e. “Novice 1/75” for “Favorites: Survival” when selecting “Meat and Potatoes” recipe, which is a Survival recipe.
- Quest Recipes can be added to your Favorites window. Once you turn a quest in it will disappear from the Favorites window, but will reappear when you pick up the quest again.
- An ‘Open Favorites when right clicking a crafting station’ checkbox at the top of the window will allow you to do exactly as described, instead of opening a profession associated with the crafting station you click on.
About Patch 3.1
Lead Content Designer Darkmoon went over a bit of stuff about Patch 3.1: Storm at Sea.
Tyrant’s Forge
Darkmoon hinted that you’ll fight Mecha Crucia in the upcoming Tyrant’s Forge raid as well as some other mechanized beings and a boss who is described as “soldier x serum gone wrong”.
Tyrant’s Throne Story
The Tyrant’s Throne is the upcoming island content slated with Patch 3.1.
- Crucia is in the Plane of Water with a secret offshore base – Tyrant’s Throne.
- As predicted in recent PTS/Datamining, Crucia and her remaining Storm Legion minions are trying to rebuild her dragon form with mechanical attachments – Mecha Crucia!
- The open world story will tie in with the raid, with The Yrwalach making a prominent appearance as the Storm Legion attempts to gain power over all the Planes.
- The Yrwalach appears in all Water Rifts (he’s poking the tip of his head out of all water rifts).
- The Yrwalach will appear in a zone event.
- There will be several new zone events, although only one for Tyrant’s Throne.
Chronicles
There’s no new dungeons with 3.1, but there are Chronicles planned.
- Chronicle: Rhen of Fate is slated for 3.1. However, the hard mode versions of the bosses are not slated until 3.2.
- Intrepid: Greenscale’s Blight, Hammerknell Fortress and River of Souls will be getting Level 65 versions.
Misc.
Portrait Options

Portrait Frame UI Change
Portrait Frame selection has been moved from Settings to your actual portrait options. Just right-click your portrait and you’ll be given a new “Portrait Frame” option from the drop-down.

Rare Icon
If you happen to have the Rare Icon rewarded from completing kill-rare-mobs achievements, you will also find the option to turn it on or off via right-clicking your portrait.
