RIFT news tidbits for 18th Feb 2015.
General
- RIFT 3.1 Hotfix #4. Trion has updated RIFT with RIFT 3.1 Hotfix #4. This update adds in a new upgrade path for most Expert mark/dropped gear, craftable Trinkets and two new upgrade paths for all Nightmare Tide crafted gear. Check out full patch notes here.
- About Crafting Changes. A few things to note about latest crafting changes/additions:
- About Dream Weaver Daily. A new daily is available for Dream Weavers from the daily crafting NPC at Choreburg in Draumheim. If you do not have Runecrafter, you might not be able to see the “Essence of Reverie” crafting good that is required to craft the quest item. Speaking to the Runecrafter trainer will show you the crafting good, but if you are trying to purchase from the RIFT Store -> Crafting -> Reagents, you’ll need to make sure to tick “Runecrafter” in the filters.
- Obtaining Recipes. Most of the new recipes come from Artisan Store NPCs or from the RIFT Store -> Crafting -> [Profession] -> Level filter min. 376. Others like Trinkets are obtained directly from craft trainers. The previous update’s Earring recipes comes from the Artificer trainer.
- Pelagic Fragments. Seen this asked a few times in the crossevents@faeblight chat channel. Pelagic Fragments come from using the ‘Salvage Planar Essences’ ability that Apothecaries get on Level 61+ essences (possibly includes Expert+ level 60 essences). The ability can be found in your Abilities window (default key “p“) in the ‘General’ tab. They are also supposed to have a chance of dropping from Minion Harvesting missions, but this has not been working for a while (a fix is coming though).
- Laboratory Issue. Do you not have Apothecary but one of the new recipes for another profession is asking you to use the Laboratory? If you click on the Laboratory craft station without having Apothecary, you will get an error. Instead, open up your crafting window manually (default key “,“) to the recipe you need to make whilst you are close to the Laboratory and that should allow you to craft it.
- More on Minion Boxes. So yesterday Morticus stated that he would like it if Archonix would allow for the introduction of lockboxes as possible rewards gained from Minion missions. Today he has some further ‘draft proposal’ information: [r]
- The lockboxes would be world lock boxes (the ones that require keys; Crabnarok Lock Box).
- Possible distribution would be:
- 10hr: Rare chance for Rare, Epic and Relic lockbox drop.
- 8hr: Rare chance for Rare and Epic lockbox drop.
- 15min: Rare chance for Rare lockbox drop.
- Note: This is all still a ‘maybe’ and under consideration, but in the mean-time it wouldn’t hurt to stock up on some Aventurine.
- Minion Harvesting Fix. Morticus has announced that he has fixed a bug where Harvesting missions weren’t correctly dropping Runecrafter ‘Stars’ mats and Pelagic Fragments. [r]
- About PAX Party. Trion’s Community PAX Party is being held at The Legal Harborside restaurant in Boston MA at 6-9pm EST during PAX East. More info can be found here. Here’s some additional info that might interest you:
- You don’t need to have a ticket to PAX East to attend Trion’s party.
- Here’s a summary of the major giveaways that attendees to Trion’s party can look forward to (limited quantity):
- Darkmoon Responds to Players. With the recent interview by Trion of Lead Content Designer Darkmoon, players responded about what they want to see in RIFT in the next four years in this thread here. Darkmoon has responded with some possible teasers: [r] [r]
- Zones: Darkmoon states that Trion have “not forgotten” about Myrkur Depths and Planetouched Wilds. [Possible hint we’ll be able to see these zones in the future?]
- Lord of Fire: Darkmoon teases that although Lady Glasya has been defeated, “the Lord of Fire and Glasya’s sisters are still out there”. [This suggests Trion might be fleshing out the Plane of Fire/Bloodfire Army storyline further in the future.] You can read some of the existing lore here.
- Special World Events/Epic Sagas. According to Darkmoon, “one is already in the works”. Not sure whether this relates to both a special World Event and a new Epic Saga or just one of those, but it’s good news nonetheless.
- Twisted Artifacts in NT Coming Soon.
- Instant Adventures Bosses will be normalized.
- Although not concrete, Darkmoon will add the ability to replay content to her list of things she wants to do.
- Hoping to give the “narrative companion” treatment to some existing Rift characters like Trion have done in the past with Tasuil and Finric.
- More chronicles are likely to be added in. No details or ETA.
- Darkmoon will mention adding more items unlocked with platinum and notoriety to Vladd.
- Darkmoon will look into whether adding new Master Modes for dungeons would be possible.
- Ice Zerker Proc Disabled. The Ice Zerker Proc has been disabled with the latest hotfix. An adjustment for the proc has unfortunately caused an unintended consequence where Poisons and other similar abilities have caused it to deal too much damage. A fix will be made in the next hotfix. [r]
- Inquisitor BoD Fix. Red Hawk is taking another stab at fixing Inquisitor’s Bolt of Depravity so that it doesn’t hard-cast on rare occasion when Unified Theory is up. The fix will remove Unified Theory and instead allow Bolt of Depravity to become instant from 4 stacks of Life and Death Concord (rather than changing 4x stacks into a separate Unified Theory buff like it currently does). This should hopefully fix this issue. [r]
