RIFT news tidbits for 27th Feb 2015. A couple of interesting tidbits today.

Carnival of the Ascended 2015

The Carnival of the Ascended World Event is on-going, celebrating the 4th Anniversary of RIFT! New Carnival goods such as masks, weapon costumes, ‘bubble’ Dimension items, Carousel Ram mount and Level 65 Essences can be found on the RIFT Store -> World Event.

• Carnival lasts until 3:30PM Server Time on 19th March 2015.

General

• Warning: Dimension Keys No Longer Stacked. With next week’s hotfix, dimension keys will no longer be stackable. If you have keys stacked right now, they’ll be unstacked after the hotfix next week. Unfortunately, if you don’t have the inventory space, you will lose any keys that don’t have a space in your bag/bank. Be sure to unstack your keys and have plenty of room prior to next week’s hotfix! [r]

• Contest: 4th Anniversary Arclight Rider Mount Giveaways. Trion is holding a giveaway at 11am PST/7pm GMT on Saturday, 28th February 2015 as part of Carnival celebrations. Darkmoon will be giving away several 4th Anniversary Arclight Rider Mounts on Typhiria (EU) in Tempest Bay. Click here for more details and a preview of the mount.

• Livestream Summary 27th Feb 2015. Trion celebrates the 4th Anniversary of RIFT, shows off an old video of the game from back in 2007, four years prior to launch, and gives away a ton of stuff! Details and screenshots here!

• Carnival Info:
  • Gaining Doubloons. There will be one quest per week to obtain one Doubloon – this is from the 50x Carnival Games NPC. [r] However, you can obtain Doubloons from getting 6-star rating in the Carnival 10hr minion promo, and you have a chance of obtaining them from the Pinata Prize Bag dropped from defeating the Yrlwalach Pinata in Goboro Reef Instant Adventures.
  • 10hr Promo Boxes Wrong. The box you get from the 10hr Carnival minion adventures gives you Level 60 loot. This is incorrect – an updated box will be available with next week’s hotfix. [r] Might want to save up your Aventurine.
  • Doubloon Conversion. With the next patch you will be able to convert your Auroral Doubloons into Prize Tickets. [r] [Personally I would avoid doing so since Prize Tickets are unlimited currency whereas Doubloons are ‘relatively’ limited or at least harder to obtain. Even if you have nothing to purchase this year, the 5th Anniversary next year is apparently going to be big so I’d keep them for next year. Only risk is if they remove the currency entirely next year.]
  • Carnival Essences Getting Buffed. The Carnival Essences (presumably Level 65) found under RIFT Store -> World Event will be getting a buff next week. [r]

• Goboro Reef IA Changes. Instant Adventure bosses in Goboro Reef will have their health points cut in half with next week’s patch. Also, the IA objectives will have smoother scaling when more players are in the IA group. [r]

• Mage Soul Changes. Red Hawk has listed out some of the changes he wants to make to various Mage souls; no ETA. [r] Briefly:
  • Pyromancer. Red Hawk wants the Pyromancer spec to be “a premiere single-target ranged dps soul for Mages” on par with other ranged ST souls. He’ll start off by increasing the spellpower scaling of Pyromania.
  • Harbinger. Red Hawk wants the Harbinger to be on part with other top Melee souls and making 61pt Harbinger more appealing to PvE DPS.
  • Dominator. Voltaic Feedback (dominator ability) will be receiving a short cooldown as it was never intended to be a spam button.
  • Warlock. Red Hawk wants Warlock to compete with Pyromancer. The soul will get some number tweaking after he works on Pyro and Harb.

• Sound Fix to Weaponsmith NPC. The Savant Weaponsmith trainer “Cerulean Steel” has an annoying “asthmatic darth vader” (r) sound when you are near him. This will be fixed; no ETA. [r]

• Crafting Additions. Some additions to crafting slated for Patch 3.2. [r]
  • Fishing:
    • Uncle Stan will have quests to fish up quest fish in the Plane of Water.
    • Artifact Lures will also catch fish in addition to artifacts.
    • Fishing in ‘grey’ level areas will now reward skill levels, but at a much slower rate to level-appropriate areas.
  • Outfitting:
    • With Patch 3.2, the 30-slot bag will be purchaseable on the RIFT Store. This is unique equip. There’s also 28-slot bags that use NT mats craftable by Outfitters.
