PTS Update 9th March 2015

PTS Update 9th March 2015 Feature Image

RIFT’s Public Test Shard (‘PTS’) was updated on the 9th of March 2015 with an approx. 115MB update. They’ve added in Temporal Flux and likely brought the PTS up to speed with Live.

Patch version for 9th March 2015 PTS Update is TEST-301-64-A-988321.

Summary:

  • Expert-dropped Weapon Upgrades.
  • 5th Calling: Primalist

As always, everything below is subject to change prior to hitting Live and some things included below may never make it to Live release.

Expert-dropped Weapon Upgrades

Recently both Expert mark armor/weapons and Expert Dungeon-dropped armor pieces were given a new upgrade path on Live. With today’s PTS update, Expert-dropped weapons now have at least one upgrade path.

(Luckily saved some Expert gear in my bank)

Here’s some examples of upgrades:

Upgrade Costs

The Epic (Purple) upgrades use the new amenders such as Tormenting Weapon Amender, Opaque Rune Amender and Opaque Ornament Amender.

Interestingly Skylla’s Stew Stirring Stick has two upgrades. This could be similar across Rare (Blue) Expert-dropped weapons although I can’t confirm this. First upgrade costs the old Advanced Ornament Amender whilst the final upgrade uses the new Opaque Ornament Amender.

Each upgrade also requires several Abyssal Crusader’s Accelerators that you can purchase with Abyssal Crusader Marks under RIFT Store -> Equipment -> Upgrade Parts.

Comparisons

You’ll find that some upgrades are pretty close to Epic Raid gear whilst others are still miles behind even Non-Empowered Dreambreaker gear. For instance, the final upgrade for Skylla’s Stew Stirring Stick is pretty close to the Wand of Sacrifice dropped by Finric for DPS but is still nowhere near the stats of the Empowered Dreambreaker Wand.

5th Calling: Primalist

Primalist 5th Calling Gear

5th Calling: Primalist Tooltip inclusion on PTS.

It seems that the name of the 5th Calling is “Primalist” according to the PTS. This was found by Basile on the RIFT Forums when viewing gear tooltips.

So far, the Primalist Calling appears in the tooltips for: Leather armor, 2-handed Sword/Axe, 1-handed Sword/Axe and Bows/Guns. It does not appear in Staves, Wands or Totems. Daggers do not have Calling information as they can be equipped by all current Callings.

However, just because Primalist appears in the tooltips of a piece of gear doesn’t necessary mean it uses the same stats or that particular piece of gear. For instance, Warriors can equip Cleric Chain armor, but you wouldn’t want your Warrior to wear Wisdom gear. Same for swords – they can be equipped by Mages, Warriors and Rogues, but you wouldn’t want to equip a Mage sword for your Rogue.

At this stage the tooltips cannot confirm to us whether the Primalist uses Leather or a new type of armor.

Note: The name might be placeholder and is subject to change. For instance, the Oracle was originally named ‘Crusader’.

A small update to the PTS today bringing the PTS client in line with Live and adding in Expert-dropped weapon upgrades. The update also reveals the 5th Callings name, Primalist.
