RIFT news tidbits for 9th March 2015.

Carnival of the Ascended 2015

The Carnival of the Ascended World Event is on-going, celebrating the 4th Anniversary of RIFT! New Carnival goods such as masks, weapon costumes, ‘bubble’ Dimension items, Carousel Ram mount and Level 65 Essences can be found on the RIFT Store -> World Event.

• Carnival lasts until 3:30PM Server Time on 19th March 2015.

Temporal Flux Promo Week

Temporal Flux Promo Week is on-going. There’s a ‘Temporal Flux Vault III’ that contains a rare chance at a Black Empyreal Walker mount as well as daily quests that reward event currency.

General

• Archonix Letter to RIFT Players. Archonix posted up a letter with brief information on the 4th anniversary and some past activities. He also revealed that RIFT 3.2 is called “Echoes of Madness” and will include Return to Hammerknell raid, Instant Adventure improvements, Wardrobe additions and more. His letter also included concept art for a “crystalrex”. Check it out here.
  • Patch 3.2 is expected to come out some time in April.

• “The Future of Online Games” Panel at PAX East [Video]. Trion’s Lead Designer Andrew Krausnick joins game designers, CEOs and founders of other MMORPGs/online games such as Star Citizen founder Chris Roberts and Game Design Lead for ArenaNet Jon Peters as they discuss the future of online games. • Correction: Return to Hammerknell Date. Pithos has clarified that the Tier 2 Return to Hammerknell raid will appear some time in April, not April 12th (which happens to be a Sunday). Looks like we mistaked “April as well” for “April 12” [r]
  • New armor models are ready although gear itemization for Tier 2 is still a work in progress. [r]

• 5th Calling This Year? CM Ocho has revealed that Trion is trying to get the new 5th Calling up on Live by the end of this year. No promises, but that’s what they’re aiming for. [r] As for which dev/s are working on the calling, that will be announced “at the appropriate time”. [r] [Personally I’m guessing it might be Kervik, who vacated his position as Mage/Cleric class dev to Red Hawk earlier in the year for ‘another Trion project’]

• Unlimited Codes until 14th March. Recently Trion gave out codes in an Infographic about RIFT players. Three of those codes were 1,000-use only. Trion have now made them unlimited use until 11:59PM PDT on 14th March 2015. More info here.

• Reminder: Vox Budgie. Just a reminder that the Vox Budgie that you can get in RIFT by leveling to 20 in Trove will come out with the next Trove patch. Trove’s servers will go down at 7:00AM PST on 10th March 2015 with down-time of approx 3hrs for the patch. [r]
  • Those already at Level 20 simply have to log in to their Trove character after the patch to get the Vox Budgie in RIFT.

• PTS Update for 9th March 2015. The PTS has been updated with new upgrade paths for Expert-dropped weapons. Final upgrades use the new Amenders. Examples of some of the upgrades can be found here.

• PvP Bolstering Fix. A fix is on its way for PvP bolstering so that Ephemeral and higher PvP-dropped gear don’t get bolstered down. A future PTS update will include the fix and Vladd would like players to test this out before the fix goes Live. [r]

• New Weather Dimension Items. New ‘Flurrifier’ and ‘Perm-a-Froz’ dimension items will come with RIFT 3.2, allowing you to add placeable snow flurries and blizzards into your dimensions. These will be available in the RIFT Store -> Dimensions -> Interactive section, Artifact Collector merchant as well as from minion adventures. [r]

• Other Tidbits:
  • Trion could potentially head off to other games conventions later this year. No promises. [r]
  • Parades for Carnival were made neutral due to issues with parades getting stuck after getting into combat, such as last year in Stonefield where a single Defiant NPC would hold up 2-3 Guardian parades. [r]
