RIFT News Tidbits 15th April 2015 – Patch 3.2 Special!

General Feature Image

RIFT news tidbits for 15th April 2015. Since Patch 3.2 is out, today’s news tidbits will include a lot of information relating to the patch.

Patch 3.2 Information

Patch 3.2 is out introducing Tier 2 Return to Hammerknell, IA revamp, Wardrobe revamp, a multitude of new attractor minions, visible Elo, new dailies/weeklies and more! You can check out full patch notes as well as additional information about the changes like NPC locations here.

Main thing you’ll find below are bugs you should be aware of or additional information about 3.2:

General

  • RIFT 3.2: Echoes of Madness Trailer. Trion has posted up the trailer to RIFT 3.2. Check it out here!
  • Background Music Bug. You can hear background music even with Rift minimized. Known issue that Trion are investigating. [r]
  • /Join Events. Shard event channels now announce zone events for all shards in your region. This means that if you joined multiple shards’ events channels (i.e. /join events@faeblight, events@laethys/etc), you can now remove them all and just type “/Join Events” for announcements from all shards.
  • Window Issue. Have you noticed a border around your RIFT client? Hit ESC -> Settings -> Video and tick/untick “Lock Window Size”.
  • “%” Client Crash. With RIFT 3.2, a new bug has popped up where if you have “%” at the start of your message you will crash. Be sure not to type “%” or “% [symbol]” by itself in chat. Expect a fix in next hotfix. [r] Also, anything after typing % in chat will be in all caps.
  • MSCVP120.dll Missing Error. Something that cropped up on the PTS was a ‘MSCVP120.dll missing’ error. If you are crashing often or can’t open up the RIFT Client since 3.2 patch, this might be the issue you are seeing.
    • If that’s the case, you will need to download the Visual C++ Redistributable Package for Visual Studio 2013 from Microsoft’s website here.
    • Be sure to download vcredist_x86.exe. Download the x86 even if you are running a 64-bit Operating System. Run the .exe, install and that should allow you to launch the client again.

If you are still experiencing crashes, try to disable Addons on character select screen. I’ve noticed in the past that addons like BiS Calendar can sometimes clash with specific Guilds (perhaps because they are using a different guild management addon). If that doesn’t resolves your issue, make sure all your addons are up-to-date and enable them one by one to find the culprit and either update or keep disabled.

Nightmare Rift

  • The Nightmare Realignment Tool daily required to upgrade to the new Nightmare Seal upgrades is available at any Nightmare Scholar at Ghar Station Mem, Goboro Reef or Flargle Plaza in Draumheim. Same location you get your other Nightmare Rift quests. Supposed to be obtainable only for players who have a pre-3.2 maxed out Seal. However, some players are reporting that they cannot see the quest. Currently no word from Trion on this bug.

Crafting

  • Congealed Dreams Weekly Quest Disabled. The new Crafting Weekly that you obtain in Choreburg crafting station, Draumheim has been disabled temporarily. A bug was in place that made the quest consume all your Congealed Dreams if you had more than the 3x requirement. If you lost any Congealed Dreams this way, please contact customer support. [r]
    • Note also that the recipes are skill level 376 so will be hidden for characters with 420 skill or over if you have “Hide Trivial Recipes” ticked in your craft window. [r]
    • Morticus and Vladd will take a look at recipes and might change their costs. [r]
  • New Fishing Rod. The new fishing rod is obtained from a quest given by Uncle Stan next to the Fishing Trainer in Choreburg craft station. The quest is only obtainable for players with level 450 Fishing.

Dimensions

  • Dimensional Cat Vendors. The cat vendors for the new cat dimension NPCs are Key Whee in Sanctum and Dee Vah in Meridian. These NPCs path around their respective capital city and can appear both inside buildings and out in the open. Use a target macro to help out: i.e. “tar Kee Whee”.
    • Note: There seems to be a bug where ‘Calico’ is turning up as ‘Grey Siamese’ in dimensions after you exit your dimension and go back in.
  • Dimension Boundary Walls. Apparently players using Low Quality Renderer graphics option can see dimension boundary walls in dimensions since 3.2. Trion are aware of the issue and working on a fix. [r]
  • Triangle Persisting. If any of the ‘transparent edit triangles’ that appear with the new interactive dimension items are persisting even after you switch off Edit Mode, you will need to exit the dimension and go back in for it to disappear.

Mage Pyromancer

The following change was added to the patch notes today:

PYROMANCER
* Accelerant: Each point in this talent now causes your Countdown to increase your damage against the target by 2.5%, up from 2%.
* Pyromancer’s Armor: Now increases your Fire damage by 6%, up from 5%.

Raiding

  • Tier 1 Raids Nerfed. The Tier 1 raid bosses have been nerfed with most bosses having 10-15% less hp and outgoing damage. Full info can be found in the patch notes here.
  • About RoF Changes. Rhen of Fate bosses did not receive an HP reduction. Ungolok’s one-shot mechanics are no longer one-shot. Other RoF bosses have not seen any change to mechanics. [r]
  • RoF Bug, Trash Disabled. Rhen of Fate mobs were accidentally changed to Tier 2 mobs requiring 1,200 Hit. The mobs have been temporarily disabled until the next hotfix. [r] Finric encounter also has no adds.
  • Tier 2 hit Requirement. Requires 1,200 Hit. There seems to be varying information on how often you miss at lower Hit. Ranging from 1-10% for 1,150.

PvP

  • About Conquest Changes. The 5-man CQ premade and no-join-at-5min-timer restrictions were not added in with RIFT 3.2.
  • Elo Rating Visible. Your Elo Rating is now visible to you by going to your PvP window (default key “k“) -> PvP tab. Base Elo rating is 1,500. A bit about Elo:

Elo Rating is a rating system based on your wins and losses. [r]

  • If you win a match, your Elo rating goes up. If you lose a match, your Elo rating goes down.
  • How much your Elo rating goes up/down depends on your team’s total Elo rating vs the other team’s total Elo rating. If you win against a team with a higher Elo rating than your own team, your Elo rating will go up more. Likewise, if you lose to a higher Elo rated team, your Elo rating will go down less than against an equal team.

You and your team’s Elo rating will then help match players to your team and the opposing team during a Warfront match.

The matchmaker will match teams based on several factors: [r]

  • Team Size
  • Relative total Elo Rating
  • No. of Healers
  • No. of DPS
  • If possible, matching same number of Premades per team.

Instant Adventures Revamp

  • HK IAs Delayed. Hammerknell IAs have been delayed. They will arrive “soon”, but will be some time after next week. Tacitus hopes to have them up on the PTS early next week. [r]
  • Changing Zones. The new IAs use random queues. Tacitus has confirmed that the new system will automatically change your IA group’s zone if a zone event has started in your zone. There’s also a 30% chance to change zones after an IA boss encounter. [r]
  • Mentoring Bug. If an Instant Adventure changes zones, you will be auto-mentored to the new zone even if you haven’t taking the port. This poses an issue when you’re still in combat fighting mobs, the IA changes to a lower-level zone and then you get auto-mentored to a lower level. ETA on fix: next week’s hotfix. [r]
  • IA Achieves. You may have noticed your old IA achieves have gone Legacy. You can still earn them and will get the appropriate zone title for completing them, but these will no longer be tracked. New achieves are available under Achievements -> Character -> Instant Adventure.
  • IA Notoriety Turn-in Repeatable! The new IA notoriety turn-ins are repeatable, not daily. Requires Commendations of Renown. 5-8 drop per IA adventure cache. Locations as follows:
    • Tacitus the Elder at Flargle Plaza, Draumheim. /setwaypoint 5476 5589. [Location]
    • Tacitus the Elder in Tempest Bay. /setwaypoint 13106 11518. [Location]
    • Sergeant Deucer in Sanctum. /setwaypoint 7403 2960. [Location]
    • Optio Lyis in Meridian. /setwaypoint 6174 5148. [Location]

3.2 Wardrobe

  • Wardrobe Bugs Thread. Please post all bugs you have found in regards to the 3.2 Wardrobe in Senior UI Artist Gingers’ thread here.
  • Unlocking Alt Appearances. You will need to log into your alts to unlock appearances for items in their inventory/wardrobe/bank. [r] You will only need to do this once per alt. Remember that wardrobe unlocks are region-wide (NA and EU shards are separate).
  • Transfigured Weapons Bug. Right now base appearances on your transfigured weapons are not being unlocked. Please hold onto these items and they were will unlocked with a future hotfix. [r]
  • Appearance Name Differ From Item Name. This is working correctly. Multiple items might have the same appearance and they are all referred to in your wardrobe as one name. An item appearance you’ve unlocked might appear in your wardrobe under a different name. [r] This was done so your wardrobe window won’t be filled with duplicate models. [r]
  • Dye Info. Single-use dyes will not unlock the unlimited use dye bucket for that color. As such you will not see single-use dyes in your dye selection. [r] To apply a single-use dye to a dye slot, right-click the single-use dye and then left-click on the wardrobe slot you want to put it on.
  • Wardrobe Tooltips. Trion will look into how they can improve the appearance tooltips so you are better able to find your appearances.

You can find out further information about 3.2 Wardrobe here.

General

  • Dream Orbs Stat Sheet Updated. I have added the NT Tier 2 Epic dream orb stats to the spreadsheet.
  • Minion Card Database Updated. I have added the new Attractor Minions introduced with 3.2 to the database. These are: Alcander, Billows, Cerulean Steel, Doreen, Face Pull, Lucile, Lyle, Martin, Milkweed, Runald and Ryuu. Also added new “Attracted Attribute” and “Max No. of Adventures Attracted” columns to the ‘Minions Cards’ sheet. You can check out the changes here.

    Enjoyable, update… LOL
The New 28 slot craft-able bag will never be made by anyone… the dailies for fishing and survival will also never be done by anyone again. The cost is way to much for the reward. What was Trion thinking? Even during PTS we said no to them…

*New Fishing Rod. The new fishing rod is obtained from a quest given by Uncle Stan next to the Fishing Trainer in Choreburg craft station. The quest is only obtainable for players with level 450 Fishing.
~~but rod is usable by 420 and higher skill level… I haven’t gotten to 450 as I was able to get all the new fish for the achievements in 2 hours or less of fishing in the starter zone. The fishing in all areas giving skill up, although slow, is an improvement… Something that should have been implemented at 2.0.

Some of those crafting prices are a little strange at best. The gray-area fishing skillup is nice though. I stopped at 394 cause it was just taking too long.

Just to clarify, the HK IAs have been delayed until we can make them work and have a chance to get some PTS feedback. This date should be “soon” but will not be next week. I am hoping to have them on the PTS finally early next week.

      Thanks for the clarification Tacitus!
