Where to Obtain

Location Robern Charrette Icewatch Quartermaster Mountaineer's Garb

The Mountaineer’s Garb is obtained either from Robern Charrettte in the Chancel of Labors in Iron Pine Peak /setwaypoint 4636 1542, or from RIFT Store -> Costumes.

The outfit pieces are bought individually, and require Plaques of the Mountaineer gained from dailies. You will also need The Icewatch rep* gained from Iron Pine Peak dailies and from running the Abyssal Precipice Level 50 expert dungeon. The pieces are:

  • Mountaineer’s Galoshes for 20 Plaques of the Mountaineer. Notoriety: Decorated with Icewatch.
  • Mountaineer’s Parka for 60 Plaques of the Mountaineer. Notoriety: Revered with Icewatch.
  • Mountaineer’s Mittens for 20 Plaques of the Mountaineer. Notoriety: Decorated with Icewatch.
  • Mountaineer’s Fur Hood for 40 Plaques of the Mountaineer. Notoriety: Honored with Icewatch.
  • Mountaineer’s Bib for 60 Plaques of the Mountaineer. Notoriety: Revered with Icewatch.
  • Mountaineer’s Mantle for 40 Plaques of the Mountaineer. Notoriety: Honored with Icewatch.

(Thanks to gizmovision for the notoriety info!)

*The Icewatch Rep can also be gained from turning in Instant Adventure Recommendations of Renown to either to the Sanctum (for Guardians) or Meridian (for Defiants) IA Notoriety Turn-in NPCs and choosing Icewatch Rep.

  • Sergeant Deucer in Sanctum. /setwaypoint 7403 2960. [Location]
  • Optio Lyis in Meridian. /setwaypoint 6174 5148. [Location]

Obtaining Plaques of the Mountaineer

Mountaineer Garb's Daily Quests

Mountaineer Garb’s Daily Quests

Plaques of the Mountaineer are obtained from various NPCs in Iron Pine Peak. Each NPC gives one daily quest that rewards 2 Plaques of the Mountaineer.

  • Icewatch Quartermaster “Robern Charrette” at /setwaypoint 4636 1542.
  • “Master-at-Arms Ramos” at /setwaypoint 4529 1703.
  • “Watch-Commander Malik” at /setwaypoint 2978 2393.
  • (For Guardians) “Nal’mora Quinim” at /setwaypoint 3716 1925.
  • (For Defiants) “Christa Malice” at /setwaypoint 3634 1721. (She paths around inside the Defiant Camp so might not be at that exact location).

You will also get Plaques of the Mountaineer for general story quests in Iron Pine Peak as well as for completing quests in Iron Pine Peak as part of the Air Saga Epic Questchain with some quests giving as many as 10 Plaques. You can check Magelo for the full list.

Via Auction House

Plaque of the Mountaineer AH

The easiest way to obtain the Mountaineer’s Garb is via the Auction House. You can either purchase the gear directly from any players trading, or purchase the Plaques of the Mountaineer.

For instance, right now there’s a few players selling the Plaques of the Mountaineer at 1g 69s on Laethys (NA). That’s effectively just over 1 plat for the Chest piece! Check your AH and get them quick whilst they’re cheap!

(Thanks to Vothlo@Wolfsbane for the AH info!)

Colors

A little bland? Don’t worry, the outfit is fully dye-able!

Note, however, that the ‘cape’ at the back is actually part of the Chest/Parka design.

It goes pretty well with portrait too:

Wardrobe Spotlight

Each week on Rift Wardrobe I’ll be taking my little camera and snapping up the latest outfits from the Rift community.

Aleanda@Faeblight

Aleanda Faeblight Outfit

This week we check out Aleanda@Faeblight’s wonderful Swarmlord Khargroth-like outfit!

The outfit dark green/yellow color combination really gives off an insect-like demeanor to Aleanda’s character, helped with the glowing eyes that you get from equipping the shoulders.

The wings are from the ‘Glasswing Shroud’ cape, one of the runner-up entries from Trion’s Concept Weapons and Cloaks Contest. The cape can be found under RIFT Store -> Wardrobe -> Contest Winners. I’m actually pleasantly surprised that it can be dyed.

As for the special glowing eyes, those are gained from equipping Swarmlord Khargroth’s Impalers. This is a chance drop from the zone event “The Exuvia of Khargroth” that usually spawns in Storm Legion zones.

You can check out larger versions of the Front and Back views of Aleanda’s outfit below:

Get out there and either help the folks out at Iron Pine Peak or start the Air Saga Epic Questchain to get your copy of the Mountaineer’s Garb!

I’m only 1/2 way to Revered… so the last two pieces are not in the close future…

If you’re maxed on NT notoriety, you could save up the Commendations of Renown that you get from doing the IA weekly and turn them in to Sanctum or Meridian IA turn-in NPCs. They should have an Icewatch notoriety option. It’ll still take a while, but you’d get there eventually. Also, Vothlo mentioned that you can buy the costume pieces themselves from the AH, so if you can find someone with them you could just have it in your inventory (no need to equip) and that should collect it for you. Effectively circumvents the notoriety requirement.
