Trion Worlds has posted a “RIFT Behind the Scenes: Dan “Snedhepl” Hollinger” Article on the Rift main website. The article can be found in full here.
Snedhepl is now the new lead engineer at RIFT (promoted from Senior Gameplay Engineer). Congratulations on the promotion Snedhepl!
About Snedhepl:
- Snedhepl has worked in the game industry for 10+ years!
- He worked on games like Killing Floor, EVE Online and World of Darkness.
- His nickname “Snedhepl” comes from “Send help, it’s a vampire”.
- On RIFT he has worked on the Announcer Pack, Minion System and a wide range of other projects including animation and pathfinding.
- As Lead Engineer, Snedhepl is now “the person everyone goes to first if there is an engineering problem in Rift”. He also jumps on a lot of grenades.
The Future:
- Snedhepl is responsible for the tech requests behind the new (5th) Calling. However, Vladd and Red Hawk currently have shared responsibility for the calling itself (balance, abilities/etc). Snedhepl is responsible for coding it all in.
- He is also working on an “unannounced initiative” and the build system for that initiative. No details.
- Snedhepl would like to see Minions on the Mobile App.
- On-demand Guild Loading to improve server performance.
- Trion is also hiring more engineers.
