RIFT’s Public Test Shard (‘PTS’) was updated on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Otober 2015 with 271mb, 293mb and 80mb updates respectively. Quite a few new additions despite being just a few days away from RIFT 3.4 launch.
Patch versions are TEST-303-43-A-1043835, TEST-303-44-A-1044232 and TEST-303-45-A-1044531.
Summary:
- Currency Conversion. Storm Legion currency to plat; gear and activity rewards converted to Void Stones.
- RIFT Store Additions. Jolt mount; Pet Skin: Khadlig; Underwater Mount Training plat option; new 155% mounts; new warfront announcers; Credit pack Patron bonus sale.
- Planetouched Wilds Additions. Tons of new NPCs added in; a few new vendors (with placeholder items).
- Other Info. Primalist Locked; The Wilds Pack – Part 2; Ice Zerker Proc adjusted; 9th bank vault; Tritium Core updated; Rogue Riftstalker: Rift Guard reverted to old % mitigation ability; various minor Wardrobe changes, and new Primal Leather wardrobe set.
As always, everything below is subject to change prior to hitting Live and some things included below may never make it to Live release.
Currency Conversion
First up is something that might be considered a big change for those still leveling up or after wardrobes.
Storm Legion Currency to Plat
All Storm Legion currency has been converted to platinum. This includes:
- Sourcestone
- Infinity Stone
- Empyreal Slayer’s Mark
- Fragment of the Ward
- Frozen Eclipse Stone
As you can see, nothing else has changed except for a small increase in the platinum I had (~17p). This is exactly what happened to pre-SL currency in the past. Unsure of the exact conversion rates from Storm Legion currency to platinum.
Void Stones Everywhere
Everything pre-Nightmare Tide that rewarded or required you to use any of the currency that has been converted now requires Void Stones instead.
The conversion includes open world, expert and raid gear. Upgrade parts, craft components/etc that used to use old currencies have also been converted.
This will probably make it easier to obtain old world wardrobe items. This is especially true for Storm Legion gear, since a lot of the world/expert gear has different models between base and upgraded gear.
Bag of Innumerable Pockets
Did you miss out on the Bag of Innumerable Pockets because it costs 16,200 Empyreal Slayer’s Marks on Live? Well, it’s now been converted to 45,000 Void Stones! The 36-slot bag is available under RIFT Store -> Storage.
Activity Rewards Converted
All activities that rewarded old currency now rewards Void Stones, from Freemarch carnages to Level 60 weeklies.
Note: Weekly currency caps haven’t changed.
Inconsistencies
The conversions probably haven’t been given a final pass yet on the PTS. For instance:
- Level 60 Tier 1 gear costs 42k/52k/60k Void Stones, whereas:
- Level 60 Tier 2 gear costs 9k/14k/17.5k Void Stones.
It seems like some of the gear hasn’t gotten a second pass since the initial conversion.
Same applies to quests. For instance:
Level 60 Daily Raid Rift rewards 3150 Void Stones, whereas Level 65 version rewards 750.Level 60 Dailies give 1260 Void Stones, whereas Level 65 Dailies give 40.
[UPDATE] Inconsistencies with quests fixed in 6th Oct PTS Update. Level 60 Zone Event weekly – for instance – now only rewards 100 Void Stones. T1/T2 Level 60 gear inconsistency still remains.
Unknown when these changes will hit Live. Perhaps with 3.4.
RIFT Store Additions
A few changes/additions to the RIFT Store with the latest patches for October.
Jolt Mount
A new mount has popped up on the PTS: Jolt. It’s basically a gold version of the Volt and Bolt mounts. It’s 155% or matches fastest mount speed, and a Land Mount.
The Jolt Supply Crate has replaced the Abyssal Thresher Supply Crate under RIFT Store -> Chests & Keys.
To preview it on the PTS, you’ll need to open chat and then shift+click the Jolt Supply Crate. If you simply click on the Jolt Supply Crate, it’ll instead preview the Pet Skin: Khadlig.
Pet Skin: Khadlig
Oddly, if you try to preview the Jolt mount the normal way by clicking on the Joly Supply Crate, you’ll instead preview the Pet Skin: Khadlig.
As the tooltip states, the Pet Skin: Khadlig is a combat pet skin for Rogue’s Blood Raptor pet.
The Khadlig wasn’t visible under RIFT Store -> Pets -> Combat Pet Skins. It is ‘possible’ that the Pet Skin: Khadlig might drop from the Jolt Supply Crate.
Mount Updates
A few mount-related updates to the PTS:
Underwater Mount Training
The Underwater Mount Training item – that allows one of your mounts you select to be able to swim – now has a platinum option. It costs either 3,500 platinum, or 1,500 Credits (1,350 for Patron).
155% Mounts – Crabnaroks
New 155% mounts are up on the PTS under RIFT Store -> Mounts. There’s Dark, Red and Seafoam Crabnarok mounts. These mounts are all available for 15,000 platinum. No Credit option. (Looks like Trion’s trying to get in some more plat sinks).
The old Singing Devourer mount (looks just like a Bounding Devourer) that was introduced at the start of Nightmare Tide has had its platinum cost reduced from 30k to 10k. (Probably wasn’t selling very well).
Note: Red Crabnarok tooltip states it is a 60% mount. Probably a tooltip error.
(Thanks for Boase for the info!)
New Warfront Announcers
There’s new Regulos and Usukhel Warfront Announcers available under RIFT Store -> Services.
The sound files for each announcer was datamined two weeks ago. You can check them out below:
- Regulos Warfront Announcer. 63 lines.
- Usukhel Warfront Announcer. 62 lines.
They cost 700 Credits each (630 for Patron) and unlocks to all current and future chars on your account.
Credit Pack Patron Bonus Sale
The $5/5 euro, 750 Credit Pack now has a 15-day Patron Pass Bonus for the first time you purchase the pack since the promotion. As at the time of this post, there was 9 days, 10 hours left until the end of the promotion.

EU Src: Seshatar
Chances are this bonus will appear on Live when 3.4 launches, giving it ~7 days left at that time.
(Thanks to Seshatar for the info!)
Planetouched Wilds Additions
This is going to be brief since it’s so close to 3.4 release (Oct 7th).
The zone has had a massive increase in NPCs. Looks like since the wall fell, the Bahmi (and sheep) have been busy re-populating their race.
- A ton of critters have popped up such as sheep in Shal Korva and Plains Cattle around Cosmic Steppes.
- A very large increase in NPCs added to major areas of the zone, from Acolytes in Ovog Shrine to half a billion (slight exaggeration) NPCs in Woe.
- Tons of Skywhales added to Sky Fisheries.
Shal Korva has also gotten a few new vendors: Brewer, Drink Vendor, Bartender, Arcane Trinkets, Melee Weapons, Armorer and Ranged Weapons. The armor/weapon vendors sell various low-cost under-level 10 gear that may prove useful to wardrobe collectors.
(Thanks to Slipmat for the info and to Tacitus for some clarification on the gear sold by new Shal Korva merchants!)
Other Info
Primalist Locked
You can no longer create a new Primalist character on the PTS unless you have the Primalist Calling unlocked with The Wilds Pack. However, if you had already created a Primalist character for testing purposes prior to this weekend, you can still access it on the PTS.
According to Trion during the 3.4 Overview Livestream, you’ll lose access to the Primalist on the PTS altogether when 3.4 launches unless you have the calling unlocked.
The Wilds Pack – Part 2
The second part of rewards for The Wilds Pack is now accessible on the PTS. If you bought The Wilds Pack, you can now obtain the ‘available-in-3.4’ items from your in-game mail. These items are:
- Additional Character Slot (auto-applied, not in mail)
- Khar Warfront Announcer (auto-applied, not in mail)
- Zendi Companion Pet
- Ascended Primal Trinket
Ice Zerker Proc Adjusted
The Ice Zerker Proc from various T1 weapons like Fist of Threngar and Ekor Ira, Hand of Threngar has changed.
The amount of stacks of the Ice Zerker proc is no longer increased by other Nightmare Tide items with procs.
It also appears in your combat log now. Also, tooltip nows states it deals Water damage, instead of just ‘bonus damage’.
(Thanks to colbyrascol and DarkDaemon for the info!)
9th Bank Vault
There’s a new, 9th Bank Vault added to the game.
(Thanks to Seshatar for the info!)
Tritium Core Tooltip Update
The Tritium Core fluff item has had its tooltip updated so that it “Does not have any effect on those who aren’t observing it”. Perhaps this now means that you won’t feel the screen shaking when someone uses it off-screen.
For those unfamiliar with it, the Tritium Core is an item rewarded for completing the achievement “Pyrokiting” found under Achievements -> Raids -> RIFT: Storm Legion -> Bindings of Blood. It causes those near the player who uses it to be knocked back a fair distance, and makes players’ screens shake for a brief period.
(Thanks to Seshatar for the info and screen!)
Rogue Riftstalker: Rift Guard Reverted
Rogue Riftstalker’s “Rift Guard” ability has been reverted back to it’s old % mitigation form. It is no longer an absorb shield.
(Thanks to Muspel for the info!)
Wardrobe Changes
- New Wilds-themed weapons now have names like Fangstrike, Wardstone Pulverizer and Painite Hatchet. No longer internal “1h_sword_303″/etc names.
- Tacitus has done a pass through the wardrobe collections and removed any items that are not obtainable by players (mainly various tints of existing models). [r]
- Shalistiri-themed weapons have been removed from wardrobe. Perhaps they’ll re-appear at a later date. (perhaps for a T3 10-man?)
- “Primal Leather” wardrobe added in for Chest, Legs and Feet slots. These are the new Primalist starter gear.
According to the most recent 3.4 Overview Livestream, you are only able to unlock the Primal Leather outfit for your wardrobe collection if you create a Primalist.
Quite a few interesting additions that has hit the PTS despite being just a few days away from RIFT 3.4 launch. Unknown if all of these additions are slated for 3.4 release or somewhere down the line.
For past PTS Updates, click here. You can also find past datamining here.
I hope the conversion rate will be good. I’d hate to see my 60k FES and 10k FOTW become 30 plat.
The reason that the number of items in various wardrobe categories has dropped is that I have been making a pass through and removing items that have never been available to players (typically variant tints of existing items).
The white item vendors in Shal Korva are not placeholders. I wanted to add some vendors to the town and since most of our vendor stuff is handled through the storefront UI, I made these guys instead. They sell basic items, lvl 01-05 armor and 01-09 weapons. It is fluff (but potentially useful fluff to wardrobe folks).
Thanks for the info Tacitus! Will edit those parts to reflect the corrections. 😀
so we will enevr see the old pvp weapons from the TB time? 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦
I’d love to see the Storm Legion PvP armor/weapon upgrades (Warlord/Myrmidon) have their Warlord/Myrmidon Marks cost removed. Those marks no longer exist. Change it to favor and/or favor infused accelerators.
Only 1 Bag of Innumerable Pockets can be bought?
