PTS Update for 21st-22nd May 2015 Part 1

PTS Update for 21st-22nd May 2015 Part 1 Feature Image

RIFT’s Public Test Shard (‘PTS’) was updated on the 21st-22nd May 2015 with ~3.55GB and 683MB respectively. I am going to put Part 1 of the PTS Update information here.

Patch versions are TEST-302-46-A-1006590 and TEST-302-47-A-1006979.

Summary:

  • 3.3 Crafting Items

As always, everything below is subject to change prior to hitting Live and some things included below may never make it to Live release.

3.3 Crafting  Items

A whole bunch of new crafting items are now available from craft profession trainers. According to announcements made by Morticus in the past, all of these are slated for 3.3.

Note: Currently the material requirements for these new items are insanely cheap compared to their Credit value (for costume bundles). This might be placeholder with the cheap cost being used for testing purposes.

Armorsmith – Costume Bundles

Armorsmith Costume Bundles

Armorsmith Costume Bundles

Armorsmith trainer has a whole bunch of existing Chain/Plate costume bundles that are currently on RIFT Store -> Wardrobe. These will now be craftable.

Mat prices are relatively cheap, but this might be placeholder.

Armorsmith Costume Bundle Recipe Cost Examples

An example of one of the costumes you can get is the Infernal Plate Bundle. This is the Level 50 Tier 3 Infernal Dawn Raid warrior gear set.

Wardrobe Infernal Warrior

Wardrobe – Infernal Plate Bundle

Outfitter – Costume Bundles

The Outfitter trainer has a whole bunch of Cloth/Leather costume bundles that are currently on RIFT Store -> Wardrobe. These will also be craftable. Again, extremely cheap mat costs that are likely placeholder.

An example of one of the bundles is the Infernal Cloth Bundle. This is the Level 50 Tier 3 Infernal Dawn Raid mage gear set.

Weaponsmith – Weapon Costumes

Weaponsmith Weapon Costume Crates

Weaponsmith Weapon Costume Crates

Weaponsmith trainer can craft Weapon Costume Crates. Again, low-cost, but might be placeholder.

The weapons use the same models are the weapons you find under RIFT Store -> Wardrobe -> Weapons -> Novelty, and only shows the fun items. (so you can’t craft the Storm/Wind Edge weapons).

Apothecary – Fun Potions & Fireworks

Apothecary can craft a whole bunch of fun consumables and fireworks. They come in packs of 10 and last 5min each (except fireworks which last until they end).

First up:

  • Micro Brew that makes you small with a slightly larger head.
  • Dorsal Fin Salve that turns you into a large Skelf.
  • Shrunken Head Brew that, well, shrinks your head.

Apothecary Fun Potions 1

The next lot are:

  • Pixie Dust Salve which turns you into a Fae.
  • Stinky Salve which turns you into a Bogling Nurse.
  • Coastal Ahprodisiac which adds love heart vfx around you (like the Love Bug buff).
  • Essence of Winter, which adds a swirling ice vortex around you, and covers your upper half with an ice shield vfx.

Apothecary Fun Potions 2

Next up:

  • Iron Salve which turns you into an Iron Golem/Maiden. It doesn’t jump.
  • Rotting Salve which turns you into a Zombie.
  • Hot Air Brew, which drastically increases the size of your head.
  • The Clicking Salve turns you into an Architect.

Apothecary Fun Potions 3

The next few are a little larger, and quite hilarious.

  • Tripping Brew increases the size of your boots.
  • Knuckle Dragger’s Brew increases the size of your arms and gloves. This also affects any weapon you have equipped. (Unfortunately doesn’t work on shields, they remain the same size). Can be used in combat, so it’ll make for some hilarious encounters.

Apothecary Fun Potions 4

The Extremities Brew ends up combining both the Knuckle Dragger’s Brew and Tripping Brew effects, although it only seems to enlarge the hands and feet, and not the arms.

Again, shields don’t get resized.

Apothecary Fun Potions 5

Finally, the Hot Sauce first has you breathing out flames before you end up with a Plane of Fire-based ground ‘terrain paint’ below you. It follows you, although there’s a delay before it re-appears if you move.

Apothecary Fun Potions 6

There’s also a few different kinds of fireworks that last a few seconds.

Quite a bit to look forward to from the Apothecary front! How will your next raid look like?

Artificer – Companion Pets

Artificer Companion Pets 2

The Artificer trainer now has recipes to craft various companion pets.

Here’s some of them, with the rest being wisps.

Again, not showing recipe cost because it’s probably placeholder.

Dream Weaver – Dimension Items & Key

Dimension Items

Dream Weaver Dimension Items 2

Dream Weaver Dimension Items

The Dream Weaver trainer has a few of the new dimension items slated for RIFT 3.3. There’s a lot more out there, but Morticus has stated they will be obtainable from different areas.

Dream Weaver Dimension Items

Dimension Key: Tempest Island

Key to Dimension Tempest Island Dream Weaver

The Dream Weaver profession is now able to craft Dimension Key: Tempest Island. This can be found on the Artisan Store or via RIFT Store -> Crafting -> Dream Weaver.

The dimension is located…somewhere. It’s basically a relatively small island with two other tiny landmasses protruding from the water.

Dimension Key Tempest Island – Two Perspectives.

Dimension Key Tempest Island 2

Dimension Key Tempest Island  – A small, bare island.

(Thanks to Basile on the RIFT forums for PMing screenshots of Tempest Island! Much appreciated!)

Runecrafter – Party Sticks & Glyphs

Party Sticks

Red Party Sticks

Runecrafters can craft Party Sticks of various colors. Recipes are at the Runecrafter trainer.

Unfortunately these aren’t ‘too’ interesting because they are already available for purchase at the various planar vendors in Sanctum/Meridian. In fact, the ‘Nico Lights’ in Sanctum/Meridian only cost 1 planarite each, much cheaper than the runecrafter’s recipes.

The Party Sticks also suffer from the same problem as the old Nico Lights – they disappear when you use an ability.

Hopefully Morticus finds a way to have them useable in combat, otherwise you’re better off buying the 1 planarite Nico Lights. (hopefully they don’t remove the Nico Lights to force us to craft these Party Sticks).

Glyphs

Glyphs are way more exciting though. They cost a small amount of runecrafting materials (mainly from SL and Classic) and gives you 10x Glyphs. There’s a whole variety of them and they have various effects!

Lasts 5min. Doesn’t disappear when in combat.

First up:

  • Glyph of Butterflies has small butterflies flying around. Quite spare and if you had your camera out you won’t really notice them.
  • Glyph of Nature has dandelions floating around. Again, hardly noticeable and very sparse.
  • Glyph of Mana seems to have blue glows falling. Very sparse as well.
  • Glyph of Prisms seems to be a whole bunch of blue motes all over the place. Not quire sure if that’s actually what it does though.

Runecrafter Glyphs 1

Next up, a few larger effects:

  • Glyph of Storms is a rather large effect. Adds a large cloud above your head, lightning effects and fills with screen with rain.
  • Glyph of Celebration fills the screens with falling confetti.

Runecrafter Glyphs 2

Some others:

  • Glyph of Filth adds a hazy smoke/dust-cloud around the upper half of your body, and if you look veeery closely you’ll see some flies buzzing around.
  • Glyph of Dust leaves a trail of dust behind you when you move.

Runecrafter Glyphs 3

And finally, the two pièce de résistance of the craftable Glyphs:

Glyph of the Guardian

Glyph of the Guardian Runecrafter

Glyph of the Guardian

Yes, wings!!! It’s confirmed, we’re getting wings! Like the other Glyphs, this is a buff that lasts 5min. (Personally, I’d prefer it if the armor on the wings was silver with gold tips like the Messengers of the Vigil. The blue effect on it is kinda weird…)

The wings move a bit.

Glyph of the Defiant

Glyph of the Defiant Runecrafter

Glyph of the Defiant

The defiant’s wings are metallic in texture and have a lot more extra details/’glyphs’ on each segment of their wing. The main ‘blade’ and the ‘feathers’ have separate movement. The circular discs also move differently from the rest of the wings.

Glyph of the Defiant Runecrafter 2

Pretty nice look to them!

Below you can find the current cost of the two wings:

Glyph of the Guardian Defiant Recipes PTS

Note that this is the PTS so the recipe requirements might change.

With the appearance of these wings, it lends weight to the idea that the blue wings and Twyl’s wings found in previous datamining are actual player wings, likely slated for Summerfest.

Pretty interesting additions coming to crafting slated for RIFT 3.3.

The Defiant wings kinda seem like they’ve been, uhh, “borrowed” from the Storm Legion.

    Ah well, hail Crucia.

I have an odd inkling that the next loyalty tier will have some kind of toggle on/off special wing.

Wow, this all was a giant surprise. Though it looks like I was right that they’re ‘clearing out’ a lot of the Credit Store items to be more in-game rewards (achievements as in some of NT, crafting, questing, etc) before ramping up new items for later in the expansion (and whenever 4.0 happens, this year to next year or whenever).

    Very interesting.

Yea, I’m liking the direction Trion is taking. They made lockboxes drop tradeable premium items, and now all these craftables. Very nice to see.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to transfer my main over to be able to get the key and make it. *Crosses fingers*

      Awesome! Can’t wait!
Also, have you seen the 5,000 item limit “Mathosian Cascades” dimension? It’s found under RIFT Store -> Dimensions -> Dimension Keys. Highest limit is 5k! :O Unfortunately, the lake/pond within the dimension isn’t included in the borders.

    • May 23, 2015 at 9:59 pm #

      Yes, and Octus Monastery!

good job;D the big head is just amazing. now we miss only the backpacks !

    • May 24, 2015 at 5:07 pm #

Perhaps it’ll be a future Survivalist craft. They can already build campfires and tents, backpacks seem like it goes with the theme.
