The following is a guide to the Nightmare Coast, a Nightmare Tide Dungeon in RIFT.
Where Is It Located?
The Nightmare Coast dungeon is located south of Fortune’s Shore in Shimmersand at (6554, 7356) on the Mathosia continent. It can also be found under the Looking for Group (“LFG”) window (default key “i“) by clicking on the Specific Dungeons arrow in the bottom-left hand corner of the LFG window.

Quick Summary: Nightmare Coast
Hydal Ithral (The Dream Eater)
- Random player gets “Mark of Atrophy” 8sec purple AoE debuff. When debuff drops, the AoE drops onto the ground and becomes red with a totem/spike in the middle. Drop it away from other players and don’t let another Mark of Atrophy’s red AoE touch another AoE’s totem/spike. AoE will disappear after a few seconds.
- Hydal Ithral spawns Nightmare Orbs behind random players. A laser will appear between the boss and the Nightmare Orb. Avoid the laser. You can also dps down the Nightmare Orb if you want.
- Cleanse “Nightshade”, a purple AoE dot that goes on all players and ticks for 3-4k damage. Heal spec with AoE cleanse makes this easier.
- Need decent Single Target healing since the boss hits the tank for 12-20k auto-attack.

Shade of Akylios
- Run out of large red circle AoE.
- Avoid waves.
- Stay away from tentacle adds. They deal damage and put a stacking debuff on you that drains your mana.
- When Akylios emotes “Akylios prepares to unleash the power of the sea. Hide!”, run behind an ice pillar and inside its blue AoE.
- Ignore large arrow on tank’s head.

Dalraak the Shadowlord
- DPS Portal Adds asap.
- Spread out for The Demon Within where every player will receive a purple AoE on them. AoEs can overlap, but players should not overlap with other players’ AoEs.
- Interrupt Shadow Stitch, Shadoweave and Warped Reality.
- At low hp (approx 15%), Dalraak will cast Warped Reality when he is finished with his current cast. Interrupt it. If it is not interrupted, the Tank will receive a huge amount of incoming damage debuff stacks. This will be very heal-intensive.

Lord Arak (Nightmare Gate Ritual)
- Interrupt Manifest Terror’s ‘Horrible Transformation’ cast. Successfully doing so will make this fight easy-mode. If you fail, you will need to deal with a new add (depending on which Manifest Terror you failed to interrupt). Out of the failed interrupts, remember to interrupt Toxic Spit from the ‘Emu Turtle’ add and avoid all AoE. Run out of melee range of the ‘Emu Turtle’ before it finishes casting Shell Shock.
- Have the tank pick up adds and kite the Manifestation of Lord Arak throughout the fight. Avoid aiming his ‘Slash’ conal AoE at the raid and run out of his ‘Smash’ large red AoE attack.
- DPS down portals as soon as they spawn. DPS the small adds that spawn from these portals one at a time. They have a self-destruct when they die so you don’t want multiple to die at the same time.
- Healer cleanse Numbing Cold that gets put on all players, and cleanse Poisoned Spear if the ‘Sobek’ add manages to spawn (from a failed ‘Horrible Transformation’ interrupt).
- Tank and healer needs to position well so you don’t end up line-of-sighting each other due to middle ‘coral’ or when running out of Lord Arak’s ‘Smash’ AoE.
