Mage and Cleric Class Dev Kervik has posted a large list of changes that he is considering implementing for the Cleric’s Cabalist soul.
(Note: These changes are not up on the PTS yet. Kervik stated he will add them after Patch 2.6 hits Live)
There’s quite a lot of quality-of-life changes and improvements on the table.
Summary:
- 3-buff system. Keep rotation, just change buff. 5sec CD; oGCD.
- Focused Obliteration – Single Target mode.
- Condensed Obliteration – Low Target mode.
- Unbounded Obliteration – High Target mode.
- Low-Target and High-Target modes means the number of targets. So small number of targets vs high number of targets.
- Each AoE Cabalist ability will be useful under any of the 3 buffs. The number of targets they hit will be based on the buff used. Most affect Up to 8 targets at High-Target mode; Up to 5 at Low-Target mode; 1 target at Single-Target mode.
- We get a stand-still stealth in Shadow Breach!
- New Dominion ability: Resets CD on all Sigils (except Catastrophe). Makes next 4 Sigils have no CD. Lasts 1min; 1min CD.
- Whole bunch of other changes. See quote below for more info.
Proposed Cabalist Changes Hey all, As promised here is the current list of changes for the Cabalist I’m considering. For now I’m going with a 3 buff system. Basically you’ll just cast the buff on yourself for whatever mode you want to be in and just keep your normal rotation going. New Abilities: These abilities shared a 5 second cooldown and are off GCD. This is intended to prevent rapid swapping between them and encourage people to use them for longer periods of time in between switching. Focused and Condensed Obliteration would be 36 point root abilities and replace the current Obliterate. Unbounded Obliteration will replace Dark Harbor in the soul tree. In addition to setting what mode you’re in each of these buffs will increase your AOE damage by 3% and increase your resistances by 3%. This next section details updates to existing AOE abilities to work with the new Obliteration buffs. The high target version of each of these abilities is exactly how the abilities work currently. Basically I’m only going to be making modifications to these abilities for situations where you are fighting a lower number of enemies. You won’t have to get used to anything new (mostly) when you’re doing things like Conquest or other things where you have a ton of targets to hit. Also, all numbers in here regarding damage bonuses for additional targets hit are complete guesses at the moment and will change as I get to tuning. Tyranny of Death
Bound Fate
Curse of Solitude
Disintegration
Curse of Anarchy
Ravaging Darkness
Other Cabalist changes:
I have a few more changes that may end up being considered, but I want to see how all of this affects things before adding even more things into the mix. Standard caveats apply that none of this is set in stone and any or all of it could change before things make it to PTS or Live. Originally Posted by KERVICK on 3rd FEBRUARY 2014 |

There’s a lot of quality-of-life improvements and the 3-buff system will certainly make Cabalist easier to play. The biggest change compared to the original abilities is that you’ll have to pay more attention between 5 and 8-pack of adds/players to switch between High-Target (‘HT’) and Low-Target (‘LT’).
Well of Souls
No longer has a cooldown and adds additional 10% damage using most of the AoE abilities. Fantastic change!
Shadow Breach
Granting stealth when stationary! Finally Clerics have a stealth ability! Woo! Also resets CD on Dark Passage – so now Cab’s will have 3 breaks (Break Free, Dark Passage, and reset Dark Passage) in a short vicinity.
All Curses stack
That’s a good quality-of-life change. Was annoying using both curses but having the enemy die too fast to really benefit from them.
Dominion
A powerful addition. Kervick didn’t mention removing Sigil of Catastrophe (that applies all Sigils up to 10 players), so this is a large buff in addition to Sigil of Catastrophe.
Lasts 1min with a 1min CD. Something you’ll probably have up all the time for PvP.
Dominion doesn’t reset Sigil of Catastrophe.
