Dominator changes (Arresting Presence incl.)

Kervik has mentioned before that he was looking at making changes to Arresting Presence because all silences and disarms were being combined into a new Debilitate crowd-control (“CC”) ability as part of the CC changes coming in Patch 2.7 or 2.8. There were complaints from players that the new Debilitate CC would make AP too powerful – especially in PvP.

He has now posted some changes being made to Mage’s Dominator soul, including to Arresting Presence.

There’s some changes to Malevolent Shield, Gathering Spirits, Malevolent Bolt, Thunder Blast, Arresting Presence and Pain Armor.

Changes to Dominator

These changes to the Dominator soul are likely to appear on PTS first and are open to feedback. Click here for the thread.

  • Gathering Spirits now reduces the cooldown of Haunting Pain by 5/10/15s, and its casting time by 0.5s in addition to its previous function.
  • Malevolent Shield now reapplies itself to the enemy if it is cleansed.
  • Increased the healing absorbed by Malevolent Shield.
  • Malevolent Shield is now in tier 3 of the soul tree.
  • Increased the damage of Malevolent Bolt.
  • Thunder Blast is no longer affected by the global cooldown.
  • Updated the Priest’s Lament ability description to include the duration of the debuff.
  • Arresting Presence is now in tier 8 of the soul tree.
  • Arresting Presence now debilitates up to 10 enemies within 7m of the initial target for up to 5s. Debuffs the initial target for 15s, interrupting them each second. 30s cooldown. 30 Charge ability cost.
  • Pain Armor now Increases the Mage’s damage by 15% and reduces the cooldown of Arresting Presence by 10s. When damaged by a single target ability, drains 3 Power, Energy or Mana equal to 3% of the Mage’s Max Mana from the attacker. Lasts 1h. Counts as a Mage Armor.
