RIFT news tidbits for 5th May 2015.

General

• Upcoming Planned Downtime. RIFT will be coming down for RIFT 3.2 Hotfix #4 at 5/6/15, at 6:00 AM PDT (NA) and 5/7/15 at 1:00 AM GMT (EU). There will also be server maintenance so downtime for both regions is expected to be approximately 5 hours.

• FPS Issues. Trion is still actively investigating the fps issues with RIFT that have popped up recently. [r] Snedhepl has stated that client stability is “in reasonable shape” and server-side stability is quite solid except for the few outages recently due to hardware problems. [r]

• Planar Crafting System. Morticus has revealed that he is working on a ‘Planar Crafting System’. Not much is known about this system, but Morticus did state that it is “very close” to the ‘crafting nightmare rift[s]’ that Koodbool on the RIFT Forums described here where there’s special recipe components gained from crafting rifts, and perhaps even a crafting station at the center. Of course, no exact information provided by Morticus yet.

• New Dimension Items Slated for 3.3. Morticus has posted up screenshots of some of the new dimension items coming to RIFT with Patch 3.3. Unknown yet how these will be distributed. [r]

• There’s a lot of Plane of Water items to look forward to. Plants, rocks, Draumheim architecture like decor and arcs as well as the Akylios Statue.
• Morticus might also be looking at making it so that interactive NPCs only speak when they are being interacted with. [r]

• Dimension: Dream Hive. Morticus also posted up a screenshot of the Dream Hive dimension coming in 3.4 mentioned earlier this week. [r]
