Fixing Glyph Issues: Error #1008 + Full Re-download

Glyph Feature Image

With the latest hotfix some players might be experiencing some issues with Glyph: A ‘Full Re-Download’ notification and/or Error #1008.

Full Re-Download

Glyph Full Re-Download

First up, you might have received a “Full Re-Download” notice. Just click “Yes”. You won’t actually need to re-download the game. Once you hit “Yes” you will simply download the latest patch and be on your way.

Glyph Error #1008 or Glyph Error #1038

If you are getting Glyph Error #1008 or Glyph Error #1038, you may need to delete some files to get it to work again.

For Non-Steam Users:

Glyph Error #1008 Solution

Glyph Error #1008 Solution – Non-Steam User

  1. Close Glyph.
  2. Go to your Start Menu -> Computer and open up the Local Disk where your RIFT folder is located (usually in Local Disk (C:)).
  3. Click on Users.
  4. Click on [username] with [username] being whatever name your current computer login is called.
  5. Click on AppData -> Local -> Glyph.
  6. Delete everything in that folder (so empty the Cache folder, Logs folder and delete GlyphClient.cfg)
  7. Open up Glyph again and it should (hopefully) work.

Replace [username] with your computer login name.

For Steam Users:

  1. Close Glyph.
  2. Go to your Start Menu -> Computer and open up the Local Disk where your Steam folder is located (usually in Local Disk (C:)).
  3. Click on Program Files. (Might be Program Files (x86)).
  4. Click on Steam -> steamapps -> common -> RIFT -> Glyph.
  5. Find the Cache folder and empty it.
  6. Find the Logs folder and empty it.
  7. Delete GlyphClient.cfg (NOT THE EXECUTABLE! Just the ~1kb GlyphClient.cfg).
  8. Open up Glyph again and it should (hopefully) work.

Another Possible Solution – Deleting dbghelp.dll:

If none of the above works, try deleting dbghelp.dll from your RIFT folder.

(Thanks to Rahil for the info!)

Another Possible Solution – Changing Filepath:

Another possible solution is to right-click RIFT (in left-hand sidebar) from within the Glyph client and choose Settings from the drop-down menu. Change the Install Folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\Glyph\ to C:\Program Files (x86)\Glyph\Games\Rift.

(Thanks to Idanno for the info!)

It should be added though, that you need to select the correct install folder, the one you already installed the game in.
Go to Rift in Glyph, click settings, and browse for the folder.
