New +78 HIT upgrade path for Lockbox Gear

With RIFT 2.7 Hotfix #2, there’s now a new upgrade path for all lockbox/supply crate-gained gear. For those with HIT, it now has a +78 HIT upgrade path. These are extremely expensive though and for the same tier gear the lockbox gear is likely to have lower stats. Plus they don’t have synergy crystal set bonuses.

Here’s some examples of lockbox gear and the new upgrade path to +78 HIT.

The Blunderbuss of Accursed Dreamers Warrior Tank Gun. As shown, the final ‘Malevolent’ upgrade has been added that gives +78 HIT.

The Coif of Negation Cleric Tank Helm. As shown, the final ‘Vehement’ upgrade has been added that gives +78 HIT. The lockbox gear has its own types of bonuses such as the Token Boost shown above – as such, although it will help push to a higher tier’s HIT requirement, it cannot be used for your Synergy Crystal bonuses.

Where to Obtain

Lockbox gear is obtained as a random chance from Lock boxes and Supply Crates. These are available on the Rift Store -> Chests & Keys section as well as on the Auction House via “Greenscale’s Lock Box”.

Note: The Lockbox gear’s stats are based on the Calling that opens them so if you are a Cleric you will get Cleric gear.

Cost to Upgrade

Each piece of Lockbox gear is upgraded via Empyreal Marauder’s Large Cells as follows:

• 1st Upgrade = 3x Empyreal Marauder’s Large Cells (11,700 Empyreal Slayer’s Marks)
• 2nd Upgrade = 5x Empyreal Marauder’s Large Cells (19,500 Empyreal Slayer’s Marks)
• 3rd Upgrade = 8x Empyreal Marauder’s Large Cells (31,200 Empyreal Slayer’s Marks)

Total to upgrade from base to full upgrade = 62,400 Empyreal Slayer’s Marks.

Empyreal Slayer’s Marks are obtained from:

• Random Daily Storm Legion Expert Dungeon;
• Tier 1 Raid boss kills;
• Tier 1 Raid Weekly obtainable in Tempest Bay;
• Dendrome Raid Weeklies;
• Chronicle Hard-Modes and Chests;
• Daily/Weekly Patron Gifts, Lockboxes, Conquest Chest.

Suggestion:

• If you need the HIT, save up the Empyreal Slayer’s Marks but don’t buy the Cells or upgrade the gear (unless you need the HIT asap) until you have enough Empyreal Slayer’s Marks for the upgrade you want. In the mean-time you may end up getting lucky with RNG and getting the raid drop you want that increases your HIT to +78 (or +65, whichever you are after).
