RIFT Concept Art: Armors and Weapons

RIFT Concept Art, models and backgrounds. They can provide exciting teasers to future content and glimpses of what could have been, especially when viewing the initial iterations of creatures such as Volan.

To start off, let’s check out some of the past, present and future RIFT Armor and Weapons!

Hammerknell Fortress

Hammerknell Fortress was the Level 50 Tier 2 20-man Raid with 11 raid bosses and a large variety of mechanics to boot. This raid was absolutely massive and the architecture was simply amazing.

Unfortunately the armor models weren’t too popular, with many seeming too bulky (such as the Cleric’s boots and gloves).

Infernal Dawn

Infernal Dawn was the Level 50 Tier 3 20-man Raid opened in the same year as the RIFT 2.0: Storm Legion expansion. There were some pretty impressive armors and weapons on there. You can even purchase the wardrobe models in the Rift Store, and the fire-based Weapons under Rift Store -> Wardrobe -> Weapons are all from Infernal Dawn.

Infernal Dawn Armor:

The Infernal Dawn armor sets are still quite popular to this day with many wardrobe outfits using a variety of pieces from the sets. The most common ones are the Warrior Infernal Dawn Armor gear.

Infernal Dawn Weapons:

The Infernal Dawn weapon models proved highly popular with a variety of players being seen equipping the 2-handed swords and the 2-handed scythe. Tanks seem to also enjoy using the ID shield models.

Trion actually posted the artwork prior to the release of RIFT 1.8: Infernal Dawn as teaser images. Here’s hoping that Trion continues to release more concept art for RIFT 3.0: Nightmare Tide, including armor sets!

PvP Gear

Some of the old PvP gear tended to be similar to their raid counterparts with a few adjustments to each piece.

PvP Guardian Armor:

The above was the old PvP gear for Guardians that ‘matched up’ with the Infernal Dawn Raid gear.

PvP Defiant Armor:

PvP Defiant armor for the top tier PvP gear back pre-Storm Legion also matched up to Infernal Dawn Raid gear although there are clear differences. Trivia: The PvP Defiant Warrior Armor’s gloves and chest are used in “The Raven” wardrobe bundle!

PvP Weapons:

It’s always interesting to see weapon concept art, especially since they usually provide far more detail than the in-game models. A common theme is to use angel faces, lions and wings for Guardians whilst Defiants have more sourcestone and Kelari-inspired models – yet also including humans within the designs (i.e., the two shields).

Storm Legion

Storm Legion Armor:

Storm Legion introduced a wide variety of new armor sets, with some of them shown above. Tier 1 Raid had Desolate gear and Tier 2 Raid had Rift Walker gear (same as Rank 90 PvP Myrmidon gear).

Storm Legion Weapons:

Storm Legion added in quite a few new models, including some Regulos weapons gained from the Level 60 Tier 1 Raid Endless Eclipse as well as Crucia-based weapons gained from the Level 60 Tier 1 Raid Frozen Eclipse.

Nightmare Tide

RIFT 3.0: Nightmare Tide is coming at some point this year (2014).

Thus far on the weapons/armors front they’ve shown off some Tribulation Soldier-based weaponry that could very well be equippable by players. Look forward to these weapons:

Hope you enjoyed checking out some of the concept art for previous and future weapons and armor!

Hopefully Trion shows off some RIFT 3.0: Nightmare Tide player-equippable armor in the near future!
