PTS: Test out the Level 60 Potion

The Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle is up on the PTS for testing, including a new tutorial instance at the Tower of Dawn. If you want to know what you’ll be getting with the “Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle” that is available for those who purchase the Infusion or Ultimate Nightmare Digital Editions packs, now’s your chance! (or just read on!)

Note: This is still on the PTS so the items/benefits that the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle contains might be changed before Live.

Table of Contents:

  • Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle (explanation of each item)
  • ‘Welcome to RIFT’ Tutorial Quest

Accessing the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle

Fluffinator on PTS

Fluffinator on PTS

The Fluffinator NPC will provide you with the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle. He is a werewolf NPC in front of the bear trap that sends you to the Dummy Foundry right outside the Porticulum in Sanctum (Guardian). For Defiants, he is right outside the Porticulum in Meridian (but not near the Dummy Foundry bear trap).

[Update: The NPC was removed with the most recent 2.4GB PTS Update on 17th Sept 2014]

Note: This is on the Public Test Shard Client.

The Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle is what you get when you purchase the Infusion or Ultimate Nightmare Digital Editions. It contains:

  • Instant Level 60 Boost
  • 3x Crafting Skill Boost
  • 4x Ascended Satchel
  • Boosted 60 Consumables
  • Boosted 60 Equipment

(The Live version of this item will be tradeable to other players.) [r].

Let’s go over each item:

Instant Level 60 Boost

As expected, this item boosts you instantly to Level 60. It will automatically load a purpose/preset up for you with all the major buffs, abilities, macros and the Boosted 60 Consumables icons on your action bars.

Below you can see an example of a Level 1 toon with nothing in its bars automatically becoming the ‘Nature’s Vengeance’ 52 Druid/16 Justicar/8 Inquisitor preset build.

Crafting Skill Boost

There’s 3x Crafting Skill Boost quest items that you will receive in the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle. Clicking on the quest item in your inventory will place it in your Reward Bag (make sure the Reward Bag is not maxed 10/10 before!).

Clicking on the Reward Bag will open up the ‘Crafting Boost’ reward where you can choose to boost any crafting or gathering profession to 375. This effectively means you can get 3 craft/gathering professions to 375 (Grandmaster level) with the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle (new max in Nightmare Tide is Savant: 450).

Note: As the tooltip states, you need to first unlock the craft/gathering profession by speaking to the respective trainer.

4x Ascended Satchel

Ascended Satchel

You get 4x Ascended Satchel, 20-slot bags in the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle. To give a comparison, Empyrean Bags (Outfitter-crafted) contain 28 slots.

Boosted 60 Consumables

You get 20x Phenomenal Healing Potions, 20x Phenomenal Mana Potion (Mages/Clerics-only) and 50x Moon Water drink consumes with the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle. Should be plenty to get you through Level 61-65 leveling content outside of PvP.

Boosted 60 Equipment

‘The Boosted Equipment’ item is part of the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle. Clicking it in your inventory will bring up the loot bag. Clicking ‘Take All’ will automatically replace all under-Level 60 gear on your character with the Ascended’s gear.

As you can see in the above image, my Level 1 Cleric who had nothing on him automatically equipped all the Ascended’s gear. The non-notoriety-only gear all have Gleaming and Auroral-quality runes automatically applied.

Interestingly, consuming this item also makes you auto-mount the Horse Bridle that you receive, which is an 110% mount (or match fastest mount).

 “Welcome to RIFT” Tutorial Quest

When you consume the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle, you also get a new quest called “Welcome to RIFT”. Clicking on the “Ticket to Adventure” quest item will teleport you to the Tower of Dawn Tutorial instance.

Clicking on the “Ticket to Adventure” quest item will take you to a special Tower of Dawn instance with Training adds and a tutorial quest chain that will teach you the basics.

When you click on the “Ticket to Adventure” quest item, it auto-completes the “Welcome to Rift” quest and places the quest reward in the Reward Bag.

Some of the tutorial quests are slightly customized for each Calling. For example, Rogues get “Dexterity and Discipline” which requires you to use 3x self-buffs and use a drink to restore resources. Clerics – on the other hand – get “Wisdom and Discipline” which does not have the “Use a drink to restore resources” objective.

The quests are supposed to give brand new players who use the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle a general grasp of their Calling.

Give the Instant Level 60 Boost Bundle and the tutorial quest a shot and provide some in-game feedback to Trion about it. Or, just test it out to see whether it’s worth obtaining as part of the Infusion or Ultimate Nightmare Digital Editions.

I have no issue with the level 60 boost in general but I think that level 60 boost as it applies to the professions is an unwise idea. If a person wants to skip content, that’s OK. But the professions as a whole feed off of each other via trade and the AH. If lots of people go the level 60 boost it is going to make it extremely difficult for people who don’t take the boost to level their professions unless they happen to choose all gathering professions or one crafting and two supporting professions. Maybe there won’t be enough people boosting professions this way to make a difference in the social environment–I hope not. Otherwise, this could really come back to bite the developers on the rear.
