General Feature Image

There’s further tidbits of RIFT news for 7th October 2014. Check them out below:

General

  • Instant Adventure Playtest Oct 8 3PM PDT. A PTS Playtest of Goboro Reef Instant Adventures has been scheduled by Dev Tacitus for Oct 8th at 3PM PDT (TC) (CD). Come join us! Thread info here.
  • PTS Update + Datamining 7th Oct 2014. ~673MB. Slightly smaller than yesterdays. Masteries changes, further gear price changes, ‘Return to’ dungeons on LFG, new outfit icons and earring icons datamined. And bits of pieces of other additions. Check out full details here.
  • Warrior Changes. Vladd has announced changes to Arc and Shifting Blades that will be up with the next PTS update.
    • Shifting Blades and Sweeping Blades switch places. Shifting Blades is now a 28-pt root ability.
    • Both Shifting Blades and Arc will have the following changes:
      • 1 Point: 10% of the damage of the initial attack.
      • 2 Point: 20% of the damage of the initial attack.
      • 3 Point: 30% of the damage of the initial attack.
    • For further information or to provide feedback on the changes, check out this thread here.

Nightmare Tide-related

  • Salvaging Old Gear into Savant Materials. Getting new materials from salvaging is intended. Faratha has confirmed that due to overlap between the gear power of Storm Legion and the Plane of Water, some top-level gear from Storm Legion will be counted as Plane of Water-level gear for salvaging purposes. This means that you can get new Savant-level materials from some top-level Storm Legion gear! [r]
  • Performance. Performance improvements are on-going and Daglar has mentioned today that some code has been added so that culling in 3.0 will offload some of its process to other cores. [r]

Further Information on NT Gearing

Daglar responded to further queries in regards to Nightmare Tide gearing.

  • Target values for time-to-gear (based on experts) in NT is “very close to the original target time to gear that Storm Legion had”. Daglar explains that some players may not have experienced what the time-to-gear was like at the launch of Storm Legion. [r]

As with every time we release new gear, we start with the base number, and adjust it over time to allow folks to catch up easier as needed. – Daglar

  • Daglar also noted that with the introduction of shard hopping, your rate of gain for Void Stones would be incredibly high. This didn’t matter as much for Infinity Stones because shard-hopping was introduced months after launch and thus the rate of gain was acceptable as players were simply catching up. [r]
  • Numbers have been adjusted so that Patrons should not need to do every activity to hit the weekly cap. [r]
  • Prices and time-to-gear are still being looked at. [r]

There are other issues I’ll continue to look at, adjusting pricing and time to acquire on items – and the amount of work that free players must put in vs patrons to hit the caps – and what types of content those players will have to do in order to hit those caps. – Daglar
