RIFT’s Public Test Shard (‘PTS’) was updated on the 13th of February 2015 with an approx. 800MB update. You can check out the PTS Update here which contains screenshots and additional information on crafted trinkets and the new upgrade tier for Expert gear.
The following contains information on the files contained in the latest PTS Update and anything that hasn’t appeared on the PTS client yet. A large portion of the download size comes from downloading map files, most of it old.
Patch version for 13th February 2015 PTS Update is TEST-301-41-A-982675.
Summary:
- Carnival of the Ascended 2015. 4x new masks; weapons; alt Wind-Up Pony; Yrlwalach Parade Skin.
- ‘Hot Rod’ Arclight Rider Mount.
As always, everything below is subject to change prior to hitting Live and some things included below may never make it to Live release.
Carnival of the Ascended 2015
A few more additions to the upcoming (late Feb/early March) Carnival of the Ascended 2015 World Event has been added in with the latest PTS Update.
Carnival Masks
Carnival Mask Models
Four new Carnival Mask models have appeared in the latest datamining. ‘Crow’, ‘bunny’, ‘3-faced jester’ and ‘other’ masks.

Previous Carnival Masks have been planar-related, but I guess Trion ran out of planes so they are adding randomly-assigned masks. Or perhaps these ones are related to the hybrids – top-left could be ‘Dusk’ whilst bottom-right as ‘Nature’. Not sure which one the bunny/mouse would relate to though.
Carnival Weapons
Carnival Weapon Models
Two new weapon models – a 1-handed Mace and 2-handed Staff. They seem to use the same model, just on different lengths of stick.

Skins are a different color – not sure which skin relates to which model.
There’s also some kind of vfx, or at least what looks like floating balls in a mesh model.
Mecha Pony Companion Pet

There’s a model and skin for a new ‘Carnival Mecha Pony’. This will likely be the same as the Wind-Up Pony introduced with the first Carnival of the Ascended back in 2012.
Below is the 2012 Wind-Up Pony companion pet.

If it is the same model/animations, the key on its back should keep spinning and the pony will occasionally look around, ‘clean’ itself and at times will leap into the air…like a show pony.
Mecha Pony Skin
The skin for this year’s mecha pony is a little more colorful and the emblem on its rump isn’t a (dirty) Defiant one.

With the last datamining there was a Yrlwalach Parade Model, now we have the skin in all its cutesy blue glory! Keep an eye out for chubby Yrlwalach in a Plane of Water zone near you! (during Carnival).
Hot Rod Arclight Rider
Arclight Rider – Flames Model
A ‘Hot Rod’ Arclight Rider mount model and skin were datamined with the latest update. The main different in the model between the Arclight Rider Mount and this new one would be the white lines in the areas marked in the above image which usually indicate either vfx or some kind of animation/rig.
It is possible that these areas will emit a flame vfx.
Note: Not sure what the name of this mount is, but terming it ‘Hot Rod’ for now due to its design.

And the skin. Blue with black coating and the ‘hot rod’ decal on various components. Also a blue seat! (compared to the Arclight Rider’s orange one).
Most notable is the “IV” sign in the top-left of the skin which suggests that this mount will become available with this year’s Carnival of the Ascended World Event.

This week we’re getting the Arclight Infiltration Promo Week starting on 19th Feb at 3:30PM Server Time – that will last a week, promoting the new Arclight Lifter mounts. The Carnival of the Ascended World Event ‘could’ start on the 26th Feb 2015 at 3:30PM Server Time as it began at the same time last year (27th Feb 2014).
