3.2 Wardrobe System
A bit more information and clarifications have been made by Pithos about upcoming Wardrobe changes: [r] [r] [r] [r]
- No Cost on Main System. There’s no cost to the new wardrobe system (in general). Everyone gets the new system and are able to collect styles and use them for their wardrobe sets. The only cost will be for unlimited dye unlocks. Note that everyone gets a limited amount of starter unlimited dyes, but the rest will need to be unlocked with Credits. Current dyes still work, but obviously are single-use only (except for the Unlimited Nightmare Black Dye which will be unlimited use for those who have purchased the Ultimate Nightmare Edition Pack).
- No level restrictions on the wardrobe system. Once you get an item it will unlock for all characters on your account region-wide.
- On Current Dyes. They’ll continue to work as they do now, but instead will be applied to the wardrobe set’s dye slot rather than the item itself. That said, their market price will probably drop because Trion will be providing unlimited use unlocks for some of the dyes.
- Wardrobe Preserved. If you have any gear in your wardrobe just prior to 3.2, the styles will remain in your wardrobe sets. The items will simply be mailed to you.
- On Weapon Wardrobe. Pithos has reiterated that the weapon wardrobe will have similar rules to current transmogs in that 2-handers can look like any 2-handers, 1h as any 1h and off-hand can look like any off-hand with certain restrictions. For instance, Shields can only look like other shields. Also, books/totems can only be used in the off-hand slot (not the main hand).
- Obtaining Items for Collection. You’ll probably notice that some item styles are either hard to obtain or require you use multiple alts (such as Defiant starting quest which gives you a choice between two unique weapon styles). Pithos has stated that Trion will look into ways to make them more available to players – such as some achievement rewards being automatically applied when you earn them, even if you’ve already destroyed the reward item.
- Transmog Baubles. Baubles will still work, but they are kind of redundant in the new system and Trion will no longer be selling these on the RIFT Store.
- Wardrobe Sets. Wardrobe sets still exist and if you have unlocked any wardrobe sets those will still remain. So if you have 11 wardrobe sets right now, you’ll still have 11 wardrobe sets after Patch 3.2.
- ETA for Patch 3.2. The ETA for Patch 3.2 is some time in April. No exact date yet.
More information on the upcoming Wardrobe System can be found here (screenshot), here (brief livestream), and here (some Q&A). There will also be a dedicated Wardrobe Livestream by Trion on the 27th March 2015 on their Twitch channel.

Loving the new wardrobe changes and we don’t even have it yet. Thanks for putting everything concisely in one spot!
can’t wait for this update, thanks for all the info! 🙂
Some insanely good changes to the wardrobe system! Implementing all of the things I love in Guild Wars 2’s system, opening a lot up, and Iove the dye changes, too. Totally acceptable way to monetise the system. 🙂
